Poundland owner Pepco will buy up to 71 Wilko stores, following a series of failed deals, it’s been announced.

Pepco has announced the ex-Wilko branches will be rebranded as Poundland stores, and hope to reopen the closed branches by the end of 2023.

Rival bargain chain B&M has also agreed to buy 51 of Wilko’s buildings in a £13m deal, which will also not be operating under the WIlko brand.

Pepco managing director Barry Williams said of the deal: ‘In the coming weeks we will work quickly with landlords so we can open these stores as Poundland’s with the new ranges that have been pivotal to our recent development.

‘Once that process is complete, we will ensure a significant number of the Wilko colleagues will join our Poundland team.

‘We recognise the last few weeks have been difficult for them and we will move quickly to secure new consents from landlords so we can offer them the certainty they deserve.’

Following news of the deal, here is the full list of 71 Wilko stores being bought out by Poundland…
