Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) continues to struggle in the aftermath of being raped by Craig Reed (Ben Addis) in Emmerdale.

Her feelings of shock and betrayal that her childhood friend, the father of her baby Toby who died at birth, could do such a thing have been compounded by guilt. Lydia worried that she might have led Craig on or encouraged him in some way, although she very firmly told him that she was happily married and she didn’t want sex with him.

Having to go back to work in the office where the attack took place makes everything much harder, as Karen Blick told us.

‘She has a physical response, kind of post traumatic stress as a result of what she’s been through. Seeing him again brings up the images of what happened, the thoughts, the feelings regarding that. So she’s trying to process that.’

Karen commented that Craig’s attitude after the rape totally influences Lydia’s responses to what’s happened and how she deals with it.

‘That’s the place where it happened, seeing the perpetrator who’s denying it even happened and her version of events. She’s being gaslighted and that’s just compounding her day to day life and how she’s able to cope or not cope. The self doubt, the feelings of guilt, people are not going to believe her. As time progresses for Lydia that becomes worse.’

It also affects her family as Lydia is unable to confide in Sam (James Hooton) about what’s happened and emotionally shuts down. He has no idea why she’s behaving differently towards him and makes plans to go to Ireland. Sam does his best to reconcile with his wife before he leaves, but he feels she’s pushing him away – and wonders whether Craig has replaced him in her affections.

‘They’re a really strong, solid couple who absolutely love each other dearly,’ Karen told us. ‘They are soul mates. Lydia’s biggest fear is how will Sam view her once he knows what’s happened. Will he look at her in the same way? That’s what she fears. because she feels so bad about what happened and she worries about how Sam will feel about her. Will Sam believe her? All sorts of things go through her mind.’

As Sam leaves for Ireland, worrying about his relationship with his wife, Karen said that this is a complete low point for Lydia.

‘Lydia is terrified this could mean the end of her marriage to Sam, which is her absolute world,’ she explained.

‘And the end of being part of the Dingle family which means so, so much to Lydia. She grew up in care, in isolation, she’s estranged in many ways from her own family, so the Dingles are her absolute world.

‘In terms of their marriage going forward, I really hope they can support each other and come out the other end.’

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was keeping secrets in Wednesday (September 13)’s Emmerdale. And because Moira (Natalie J. Robb) knows her husband very well, she instantly feared the worst because when Cain keeps a secret it usually means there’s trouble afoot. 

Viewers are as much in the dark as Moira is about what’s going on, as Cain enlisted Caleb (William Ash)’s help in a top secret mission soon after receiving a mystery text a few days ago. 

Caleb has recently been accepted formally into the Dingle family and has drunk from the ceremonial welly, so he can now be trusted with things like Top Secret Missions.

Cain asked him if he’d be able to go away with him somewhere for a few days and asked him to come up with a plausible excuse to stop Moira, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and others from being suspicious.  

The excuse Caleb came up with was that he was importing some new cars from Holland for his business and needed Cain’s help as a mechanic to check the vehicles were in good order.

The problem with this excuse was that Nate (Jurell Carter) and Nicky (Lewis Cope) are supposed to be partners in Caleb’s business and they hadn’t heard of any Dutch cars being bought. 

The other problem with the excuse was that Moira didn’t believe it for one minute.

She thought it was something dodgy that Caleb was dragging Cain into. Caleb could drink from any number of wellies and Moira would still have it in the back of her mind that he’d almost ruined her entire business. She didn’t trust him not to get Cain into trouble. 

It wasn’t that long ago that Caleb was roughed up by Harry (Robert Beck) and his thugs when he tried to put a stop to his business being used as a front for moving drugs and guns.

When Moira, Nate and Nicky quizzed Caleb about where he was going with Cain and he responded by sticking to his Dutch cars story, they instantly wondered whether he was really involved in something illegal and dangerous again. 

Cain insisted to his wife that he wasn’t in any danger and everything would be fine. ‘You just have to trust me,’ he insisted.  

She doesn’t, though, and told him not to be surprised if he returned to find the locks had been changed.

This is not as much of a threat as it sounds because nobody ever seems to lock their door on Emmerdale, but the point was made – Moira was not a happy bunny. 

She was even less happy later when she overheard Cain and Caleb talking, hearing Caleb say that Moira thinks he’s the instigator, which will take the heat off Cain.  

With the brothers looking serious at the prospect of whatever it is that lies ahead, Cain told Caleb it wasn’t too late to back out. ‘Not a chance,’ Caleb said. ‘However this ends we’re in it together.’ 

Moira stepped out and Cain realised she’d heard them. The look between them conveyed that this was his last chance to change his mind and stay, or at least tell her what was going on. But he picked up his bag and walked out.  

What’s the secret mission all about? Is Cain walking into danger? And will Moira still be waiting for him when – or if – he returns?

With the news that Matthew Wolfenden has decided to leave Emmerdale, speculation naturally turned to how his character will make his exit from the village. 

Matthew has played David Metcalfe on Emmerdale for 17 years and even when the character isn’t on screen we’re constantly reminded of him as almost every villager can be seen at some point carrying a bag bearing the name David – from the shop that he runs that’s one of the focal points of village life. 

It was in this shop that David got some news that appeared to leave him unsettled in Wednesday (September 13)’s episode. His former partner Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) was in the shop chatting to Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) and Mary (Louise Jameson) about an upcoming food-tasting event at the Hide.

She kept being distracted by texts, which she revealed were from an old school friend who’d recently got back in touch. 

The significant things about this old school friend were that he was male and also ‘drop dead gorgeous,’ the boy that almost every girl in the school had been after.

He’d never really noticed Victoria before, but now he was asking her for a date. 

‘I’ve been dreaming about this since I was 15,’ she revealed. ‘I feel dead giddy! I fancied the pants off him at school.’  

Mary was encouraging but David commented that it was a ‘minefield’ meeting people on line. ‘You should know,’ he said to Mary, which was an unnecessarily cruel remark given how her relationship with Faye (Jane Gurnett) ended so traumatically.  

Mary was briefly thrown but gathered herself and said she was still hopeful she’d meet someone one day. Jacob pointed out that Victoria knew this person so he wasn’t a stranger. 

‘That’s if he is who he says he is,’ David said, still determined to burst Victoria’s bubble. 

‘I’d never forget a face that handsome,’ she said and Mary urged her to meet him. Frankly, we all need to meet him if he’s that beautiful.  

But David wasn’t happy, and it’s clear that he still has feelings for Victoria. The couple split up after David tried to pass a driving offence off on Victoria last year.

Despite various attempts from David to make amends and get the relationship back on track, Victoria was clear that she’d had enough.

It seems that David hasn’t entirely given up hope, though. 

Could this be leading up to his exit storyline? Matthew Wolfenden has confirmed that the door will be left open for David’s return, so possibly he decides to leave the village after having his heart broken by Victoria getting involved with a new man?

Emmerdale spoiler pictures for next week confirm another heartbreaking one for some of the village’s finest, with big showdowns and discoveries on the cards.

There is panic aplenty after Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) has an allergic reaction when Victoria Barton (Isabel Hodgins) mistakenly tells him that a slider is nut-free.

The search commences for an Auto Adrenaline Injector, with Jacob indicating that there is one his car, which Victoria struggles to open.

David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) receives wind of what’s happened and subsequently rushes to the hospital, while Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) vows revenge on Victoria

Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), meanwhile, gets involved and, after losing some investors, she decides to fire Victoria, who is left devastated by the news.

Elsewhere in the village, Sam Dingle (James Hooton) makes a last-ditch effort to reconcile with Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) prior to leaving for Ireland, but she struggles to reciprocate, with Sam feeling like she’s pushing him away.

Craig Reed (Ben Addis), meanwhile, tries to use Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) to drive a wedge between Lydia and Sam, but Lydia responds by ordering Samson to stay away from Craig, with a showdown ensuing in the pub.

As a result of what happens, Craig is left uneasy and thus confronts Lydia, who calls him what he is – a rapist.

And finally, a big twist could be on the cards for Gail Loman (Rachel Gill-Davis), who receives a secretive phone call and later meets up with a woman named Sophie (Martha Cope), who has bad news about someone named Oscar.

But just what has Gail learned?

Emmerdale airs these scenes between Monday, September 18 and Friday, September 22 at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Speculation has been rife over exactly why Gail (Rachael Gill-Davis) arrived in the Emmerdale village.

While she was revealed as a previous love interest of Ryan (James Moore), with who she quickly resumed their relationship, something has felt a bit fishy.

She has so far proven a terrible kitchen assistant to Marlon (Mark Charnock), who’s hit breaking point more than once at her ineptitude, and her generally odd behaviour has raised a few eyebrows.

Is there a big fat secret behind it all? You bet there is.

The first clue was when she grew uncharacteristically snappy at Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Ryan (James Moore), which turned out to be a particularly painful date for her. But it wasn’t revealed what that day was.

Until that point, the pair had been joying their romance, nipping off for cocktails in the middle of her shift.

But a bombshell could be set to destroy all that. After overcoming what had set her off, the couple are quickly back on track. They head off out to enjoy another romantic meal together and things are going swimmingly until Gail gets a call. She gets cagey – which is red flag number one – and as soon as she gets the opportunity, she ducks away from Ryan to take it.

The mysterious call leads her to meeting a desperate woman named Sophie in an allotment – it’s sounding shadier by the minute.

Sophie comes bearing terrible news – she reveals to Gail something bad about someone named Oscar, and whatever this news means it leaves Gail shaken to the core.

But whoever Oscar is, Gail does not want Ryan to know about him, which rings yet another massive alarm bell. What, or who, is Gail hiding?

Rosie Bentham is best known for playing man-eater Gabby Thomas in Emmerdale, but away from the soap she couldn’t be more different.

Her on-screen character has had a lot to deal with lately, being jilted on the morning of her wedding by fiancé Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope), who revealed that he couldn’t marry her because he’s gay.

It turned out that Nicky was only in a relationship with her as part of Caleb’s (William Ash) plan to destroy Kim Tate (Claire King), and she’s been left with a broken heart, swearing she’ll get revenge.

Gabby’s also blackmailed Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), having got drunk and tried to kiss him after accidentally landing a punch on him that was meant for Nicky – and Dawn (Olivia Bromley) was barely speaking to her after finding out the truth.

Who is Rosie Bentham dating?

Rosie, 22, is currently thought to be dating a mystery man who she describes as ‘a normal guy.’

She has yet to share any photos or details of the mystery man – she has recently shared pictures of herself on holiday in Kos, Greece – but Rosie told The Sun: ‘I would say that I’m getting to know someone at the moment but I’m very private when it comes to my love life.

“I’m only 22 and things can go wrong pretty quickly at my age, so we’re just taking things slowly. We’re all finding our way.

“It’s very important to keep your barriers up when meeting people because you never know what their true intentions are.’

She added: ‘I’ve always been quite cautious when it comes to love and have never dated anyone in the public eye.

‘The guy I’m getting to know is just a normal guy.’

Rosie also said that she finds it funny when people assume she’s like Gabby in real life, as they’re so unalike.

‘She’s out there and up for anything, whereas I’m not like that at all. I’m always very well behaved on a night out.’

She recently visited Croatia with Emmerdale co-star Daisy Campbell, who plays Amelia Spencer, having also visited Paris and Ibiza together this year. But the Ibiza trip didn’t go according to plan as the pair were robbed.

Updating fans on her Instagram page, Daisy wrote: ‘Sorry me and Rosie have been a bit MIA. It would be us to get the whole of our bags stolen on the second night, with zero phones for most of the hol.

‘But we lived in the moment and then eventually got new phones.’

Who was Rosie Bentham’s dad?

Tragically, Rosie’s dad John died suddenly two years ago, a week before her 18th birthday.

It was such a huge shock,’ she told The Daily Mirror on Father’s Day.

‘I was on a weekend away, and when I got told, I just couldn’t believe it because he hadn’t been ill beforehand.

‘I got angry because I couldn’t understand why and how it had happened. I can remember saying: “No, no, no”.’

Her father was the chaplain of the University of Nottingham.

‘Grief comes in different stages. First, I was shocked, then anger, and then I found myself trying to remember when I’d last seen him and what I’d said.’

‘It’s why now when I phone my mum up, I always say ‘I love you’ at the end of our call.’

There was some shock news recently when it was confirmed that Matthew Wolfenden will be leaving Emmerdale soon. The actor has played David Metcalfe – owner of the shop that bears his name – since 2006.

Matthew appeared on This Morning recently to discuss his exit, saying it ‘felt like the right time’ to leave the show – although he admitted that the prospect made him emotional and ‘so nervous about leaving after nearly two decades.’

Luckily for his fans he also said that the door was going to be left open for him to return. ‘They’re not killing me off. I’ve been promised… and I am allowed to tell you that,’ he confirmed.

Apart from the fans, someone who will be hugely relieved by this news is Joe-Warren Plant, who has played David’s stepson Jacob Gallagher since 2010 – when he was only eight years old.

The actor spoke to Inside Soap about his upcoming storylines and addressed the exit of the man he thinks of as his ‘best friend.’ 

‘I’m gutted!’ he said of the news that Matthew will be leaving. ‘I’ve learnt everything from him. I had no previous acting experience, so everything came directly from Matthew.’

Joe-Warren said that he’d enjoyed the way Jacob and David’s relationship has matured in recent years now that Jacob is an adult.

‘It’s nice to see the change in conversations – everything’s a bit more grown-up and they talk more on a mature level,’ he reflected. ‘They’ve always got on, David’s a great father, but Jacob’s enjoying spending more time with David as a single dad.’

Upcoming episodes are due to bring drama for both father and son, as a careless mistake sees Jacob suffering a life-threatening allergic reaction.

As we’ve seen in previous storylines where Jacob’s life was in danger, David’s world is rocked by anything happening to his son and he immediately goes all out to protect him.

Looking towards life for Jacob without his dad around, Joe-Warren said, ‘It’s going to be strange not having him around!

‘I think he’ll have to spend more time with Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) and get used to not having a father figure in his vicinity. Jacob loves David to pieces and there’s good energy between them. Jacob will struggle without him!’

It’s clear that not working regularly with Matthew is going to be difficult for Joe-Warren too.

‘It’s sad, but we’ll keep in touch – he’s my best friend!’ he said. 

‘Matthew’s the most genuine soul you could ever meet. I’ll miss him, for sure.’

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and brother Caleb Milligan (William Ash) seem to have finally buried that hatchet after a tumultuous relationship, and now a new Emmerdale spoiler video has revealed that they may be about to take a road trip together.

The brothers are drinking together in The Woolpack when Tom King (James Chase) comes in, and they instantly begin to make fun of him for his misfortune the week before.

Viewers will have seen poor Tom attacked, before having his car stolen in terrifying scenes.

Despite Tom’s trauma, the Dingle brothers find the whole situation hilarious, much to Tom’s irritation.

As they continue to joke about selling him a new car, Cain picks up a mysterious text message, and his mood suddenly darkens.

Once Tom is out of earshot, Caleb, having noticed Cain’s change of demeanour, asks if he is okay.

It is then that Cain turns mysterious, asking Caleb if he wants to get away for a while.

Refusing to give out any details, he simply asks if he wants to go out of town for a ‘little adventure’.

When Caleb asks what he has in mind, Cain remains evasive, leaving us all wondering what on earth he has in store.

In upcoming episodes, Cain and Caleb will head out on their journey, ignoring Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) pleas not to go and leaving her furious.

A social event at the Hide in upcoming Emmerdale episodes leaves one character fighting for life as a careless mistake has massive repercussions.

Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) has set up a tasting event at the establishment, hoping to showcase her catering skills and the new menu.

This comes amid uncertain times for the Hide and the business that it’s part of, HOP. It’s currently owned by Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) but she’s recently announced a plan to sell up and move abroad.

Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) turns up to support the event and decides to sample a delicious-looking slider.

He has a serious nut allergy so he checks with Victoria that the snack doesn’t contain nuts. She assures him it doesn’t, but that’s not the case.

After Jacob has taken a bite he quickly develops a severe allergic reaction and is soon close to collapse. The trainee doctor manages to indicate that he needs an Auto Adrenaline Injector urgently and that there’s one in his car.

While Victoria rushes to the car to get the vital medication, a desperate Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) can only watch as her son’s allergic reaction worsens and he becomes weaker. The situation gets even more desperate when Victoria can’t find the injector pen.

Meanwhile, David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) has heard what has happened and hurries to the hospital where Jacob has been taken. Everyone is furious at Victoria’s mistake and Leyla in particular is soon out for revenge and threatening to ruin her business.

Victoria tells Gabby it was a genuine mistake but it was her fault. Her confession is overheard by potential buyers for HOP, who decide not to proceed with the purchase while there could be potential lawsuits hanging over the place. In fury, Gabby sacks Victoria on the spot.

It’s clearly a devastating mistake for Victoria, but what of Jacob? Will he pull through, or is Joe-Warren Plant another name we can add to the list of people who will soon be leaving Emmerdale in a period where there are numerous exits that have either just happened or are planned?

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) was left utterly broken by rapist Craig Reed’s (Ben Addis) despicable actions in shocking, upcoming Emmerdale scenes.

She’s been unable to function properly since the day he betrayed her trust in the most horrific way, which has put a train on her relationship with both her husband and her stepson.

She was forced to watch as both Sam Dingle (James Hooton) and Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) grew closer to her former flame, which prompted Lydia to warn Samson to stay away from Craig in a bid to create some distance.

But as she continues to keep her secret, her marriage starts to crumble while she keeps the trauma to herself.

Having attempted to go to the police, Lydia couldn’t go through with telling the world she had been raped.

Sam tries to make things right with her before leaving for Ireland, but she gives nothing back and he is left feeling she’s pushing him away, while secretly she’s trying to hold herself together.

Master manipulator Craig finds a new way to get at Lydia – through Samson. He takes Samson to the pub and fires him with questions about Lydia and Sam’s relationship.

He has clearly deluded himself into thinking there’s something between him and Lydia, having previously made such inappropriate comments as suggesting he was particularly pleased that she of all people had borne his son.

Oblivious Samson is only too happy to indulge the man he admires, but when Lydia finds them together, she loses it.

An embarrassed Samson is ordered home and Craig is left feeling uneasy. Samson is not in the slightest bit happy about Lydia getting in the way of his future, completely naïve to what’s really going on. Mandy notices Lydia’s odd behaviour and knows something is up.

But Lydia is in for a further ordeal when later she is cleaning the office alone and Craig shows up. He corners her, but this time he’s pushed her too far.

As he continues to insist he has done nothing wrong, Lydia summons the courage to brand him exactly what he is – a rapist. But how will he react?

If we know one thing about Emmerdale’s Kim Tate (Claire King) it’s that she’s a woman who’s used to having things her own way – and it’s a brave person who tries to stand up to her.

Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) is probably not someone Kim would think of as a brave person. Certainly the way she’s currently reacting to being jilted by fiancé Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) is not the way Kim would handle things.

Nicky told Gabby on their wedding day that he couldn’t marry her because he’s gay, and the whole engagement had been a sham to help further his dad Caleb (William Ash)’s ambitions to get his hands on the Kim Tate empire.

Since then, Nicky and Caleb have settled into village life. Caleb has finally been embraced by the Dingle family and has even drunk from the ceremonial welly. Nicky has started a new relationship with chef Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), and there are plans for him to go into business with Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and – possibly – Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

This has all left Gabby upset and irate. She can’t move on from being humiliated by Nicky, and seeing him and Caleb around the village is a massive ordeal for her. While Kim has advised her to front things out – which is what Kim would do, with probably a bit of revenge thrown in for good measure – Gabby has decided the only option is to leave the Dales.

This, of course, would mean taking Thomas with her. While Kim could probably cope with losing Gabby, she is not happy that she won’t be seeing her grandson grow up in the village.

In Monday (September 11)’s episode, Gabby was still pressing ahead with her plans to sell HOP, telling Suni and Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) that the idea was to ‘build up the business until I can cash out to the highest and fastest bidder.’

Kim was fuming that Gabby was still insisting on selling. ‘I hoped I’d helped you see sense,’ she told her. ‘Putting your own hurt before your child’s needs – it’s beyond selfish, even for you.’

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), who was sitting nearby with Thomas, said Kim was being a ‘bit cruel.’

‘Cruel is losing my grandson,’ Kim replied, and told Gabby she wouldn’t just let Thomas go.

‘Don’t make me bring lawyers into this,’ she threatened.

Laurel was shocked, but Gabby was totally unflustered. ‘Do it,’ she said. ‘Any lawyer will tell you that he’s my son, so I call the shots. You have no hold over me any more, Kim.’

On second thoughts, maybe Gabby is brave after all. Standing up so firmly to Kim Tate is not something most people would contemplate.

Will Kim have to concede and let Thomas go – or will she have another trick up her sleeve?

There were some scenes in Monday (September 11)’s Emmerdale that were incredibly hard to watch, as Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) struggled to cope after being raped by her boss Craig Reed (Ben Addis).

Lydia hasn’t told anyone about what happened to her, but people close to her have started to notice that she isn’t herself. Sam (James Hooton) commented that she wasn’t sleeping well and was looking tired and ill, and tried to persuade her to rest.

At the same time, Sam was unwittingly making things worse by constantly talking about Craig and what a great bloke he is, and how excited Samson (Sam Hall) is to be doing work experience with Craig’s video games company. When Lydia suggested that she was thinking about leaving her job with Craig because it was getting too much, Sam reminded her that it was helpful for Samson if she was there.

Kim (Claire King) also noticed something was up with her friend and viewers will have been willing Lydia to confide in Kim about what had happened, but again Lydia chose to cover by saying she wasn’t feeling well and needed to go home.

But back at Wishing Well she was trying to rest and Craig unexpectedly appeared.

His behaviour was absolutely vile, as he set about manipulating Lydia by trying to portray the rape as ‘our little thing,’ a moment of passion that had swept them up but that they’ve now ‘got out of our systems.’ He said he wanted them to ‘start over as dear old friends.’

Craig started folding the family’s laundry, an act that seemed horrifically intimate given what had happened and given what he was saying as he was doing it.

When Lydia tried to suggest not working for him any more, he told her, ‘If you don’t come back to the office Samson will worry about his position. Sam’ll want answers.’

He said that if he’d known about her being pregnant with their son, Toby, things would have turned out differently – suggesting that somehow Lydia was to blame for the fact that Toby died.

Knowing that Lydia has pulled herself up from that lowest moment in her life to a point now where she’s happily married and the centre of a loving family, he made it quite clear he was prepared to take all that away from her and reduce her back to how she’d been as a child.

‘I don’t want to tell Sam I made a fool, a cuckold, of him,’ he said. ‘He can’t forgive this. I would hate for this to be the end of your marriage. I don’t want you to be left with nothing again – but that is what will happen if you don’t pull yourself together.’

Karen Blick told us, ‘Lydia is terrified this could mean the end of her marriage to Sam, which is her absolute world. And the end of being part of the Dingle family which means so, so much to Lydia. She grew up in care, in isolation, she’s estranged in many ways from her own family, so the Dingles are her absolute world.’

Craig was still there and still folding laundry when Sam came home, and Sam once again made everything worse by inviting him to stay for lunch. They talked about Samson, and Lydia was left in a position where she felt she had no choice but to agree to go back to work at Craig’s office the next day.

When will Lydia be able to reach out and get some support?

Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) left the village under a cloud a few months ago when her devastating PMT and heavy periods saw her heading for what seemed like a psychotic breakdown as she struggled to handle her symptoms in Emmerdale.

The hope was a few months with brother Scott would help things settle for her. But on returning to the village, things are far from improved.

There appears to be light at the end of the tunnel when she finally receives her all-important diagnosis – it transpires she does indeed have PMDD.

But while this is an important moment in Cathy’s journey, it by no means spells the end of her troubles. As she learns more about her condition, her heart sinks as she discovers it is incurable. Instead, all she can do is manage her symptoms.

This is a huge blow and Cathy is not ready to accept her fate. A sympathetic Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is caught off guard when an in-denial Cathy insists that she is hellbent on finding a cure. But he knows she’s setting herself up for failure.

The lack of support sees her upset and frustration escalate, and Manpreet is in the firing line. As Cathy fails to control her anger, she lobs a garden ornament out of the B&B window, narrowly missing the GP. As Wendy (Susan Cookson) tries to calm her down, Cathy turns on her and shoves her to the ground.

But her violent streak doesn’t stop there, and her outburst could have disastrous consequences – as Bob watches her meltdown, he suddenly feels a twinge in his chest.

Manpreet checks on Bob and Cathy is faced with the cold, hard reality of the impact of her actions. Frightened, she runs. Has she triggered another heart attack for Bob?

It seemed like this moment would never come when it came to light that Caleb had been prepared to throw his sister-in-law Moira (Natalie J. Robb)’s business under the bus as part of his revenge plan against Kim Tate (Claire King).

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has recently put his quarrels with brother Caleb (William Ash) behind him in Emmerdale, and Caleb has been embraced into the family by taking a drink from the Dingle welly in the traditional manner.

Although he always insisted that he planned to make things right with Moira, and at the first opportunity did his best to do just that, Cain wasn’t about to forgive him easily.

It was Caleb having a run-in with hard man Harry (Robert Beck) that made Cain begin to thaw towards his brother and gradually they’ve been getting closer ever since.

And that closeness is due to be tested in upcoming episodes when the two brothers go off on a mysterious errand together.

They’re in the Woolpack enjoying a pint and some brotherly banter (not a sentence we could have imagined saying a few weeks ago) when Cain gets a text – and his mood immediately changes. He asks Caleb if he fancies getting out of the village for a while, but he won’t explain where they’re going or why.

He asks Caleb to think of an excuse they can give to Moira and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and the brothers make a pact that they’ll stick together whatever happens.

But where are they going? Moira is not happy to see her husband heading off with Caleb on their mystery trip as she can’t help but worry about whether Cain is up to no good – or whether he could be heading into danger.

In a new spoiler clip, she discovers via Nate that the job he has said to be undertaking is a lie – and she determines to get to the truth.

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) ends up snapping at husband Sam (James Hooton)in a new Emmerdale spoiler videos as she continues to struggle after being raped.

Things have been incredibly difficult for Lydia after being raped by former friend Craig Reed (Ben Addis), and in upcoming scenes she will do whatever she can to avoid him, including calling in sick to work.

Noticing how down she seems, Sam tries to ‘perk her up’ with some jokes, but Lydia insists that nothing is wrong.

Sam is quick to point out how she needs a decent rest, after tossing and turning for the last couple of nights, though he remains unaware of what it is that has been keeping her awake.

As Lydia opens a text from Craig, telling her he is sorry she isn’t feeling well, Lydia reveals to Sam that she’s taking some time off work, claiming that it’s because she needs a break.

Sam is supportive of her choice, telling her not to spend her time off doing housework, but instead get some proper rest.

As he enthuses over Samson’s (Sam Hall) excitement about his new job, Lydia is once again faced with more texts from Craig.

Clearly on edge, she ends up snapping at Sam when he suggests that she go and see a doctor, worried that she is unwell.

Lydia insists that she just needs rest, and urges him to go to work.

So far, Lydia has kept her ordeal to herself, going so far as to burn the clothes she was wearing in order to put the attack behind her.

However, as she continues to struggle in the wake of her trauma, will she open up to Sam?

It’s not that long since Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) had a heart attack in Emmerdale. He keeled over after an argument with Liam (Jonny McPherson) in the street, and if it hadn’t been for Liam’s swift actions in using the defibrillator that was nearby, Bob may not have survived.

As it is he’s recovering well but should really be taking it easy and having a quiet life as he recovers from surgery. But a quiet life is easier said than done when your daughter is troubled teen Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling).

Cathy recently returned from a spell in the Lake District with her brother and was obviously concerned about her dad’s health. She has health concerns of her own, of course, and once again she’s struggling – with almost fatal results for poor Bob.

After months of struggling with mood swings, painful periods and other symptoms Cathy was eventually diagnosed with PMDD, a hormonal disorder. She was upset to hear that she needed a formal diagnosis from a specialist before there would be any special support available for her at school.

This formal diagnosis arrives in coming episodes. While there’s some relief in having her condition confirmed, Cathy is upset that the only medical help available is to help her manage the symptoms. As she was previously told, there is no cure.

Cathy’s frustration and upset at this news triggers another episode of violent behaviour from her and in a rage she throws a garden ornament through the window of the B&B, narrowly missing Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker).

Wendy (Susan Cookson) tries to intervene, but Cathy pushes her to the ground. Bob realises he has to do something but as he rushes to help he feels a pain in his chest – and fears that he’s about to have another heart attack.

Manpreet rushes to his side to check him over and Cathy is temporarily stopped in her tracks by the sight of her dad in pain and struggling. She blames herself for what’s happened, but someone else who blames her is Wendy who angrily orders her to leave.

Cathy runs out, bleeding from a cut on her hand, not knowing whether her actions have caused her dad to have another heart attack and how serious his condition is.

Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) is in for a pleasant surprise in upcoming Emmerdale episodes as she discovers a secret about Sam Dingle (James Hooton).

A few weeks ago, Sam found and old dolls house in a skip and brought it home with him. He revealed to Lydia (Karen Blick) that he wants to upcycle it ahead of baby Esther’s birthday.

In this new video, Sam is seen chatting to Lydia while he works away on some items that will go in the dolls house.

They are interrupted by the arrival of Amelia and Esther. Sam is keen to hide the dolls house from the young mum, but Lydia says there isn’t much point in keeping it a secret now Amelia and Esther are in the room.

Amelia is moved by the surprise and then thanks Sam and Lydia for the recent cash they gave her. She hands Sam a box of cupcakes as a gift in return, commenting on how grateful she is to have their support.

Lydia is earning extra money right now after taking a job at Craig’s (Ben Addis) work. Despite the comment from Sam about Craig being a ‘top boss’ for Samson (Sam Hall), we know that his perception of Lydia’s childhood friend is a false one.

This week in Emmerdale, Lydia’s life changed forever when Craig raped her. In the aftermath, Lydia has been unable to tell her family what happened and is yet to go to the police.

In a harrowing scene, Lydia made her way to the woods carrying a bag that contained the clothes she wore before and after she was raped.

She then tipped them onto the floor and set fire to them, letting out a scream as the flames burnt her clothes.

Elsewhere, Amelia is relying on help from family and friends after Dan’s (Liam Fox) shock exit from the show. He departed after attacking Amelia’s stalker, who eventually died as a result of the injuries sustained from the attack.

Dan is now behind bars for 8 years.

Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) needs all the support she can get, but she wants a bit more from Liam (Jonny McPherson) than he’s willing to give.

Bob (Tony Audenshaw) had hoped that time away for his teenage daughter would help her start to heal and come to terms with her symptoms. Instead, she returned in a state, which she revealed to Wendy (Susan Cookson) when she broke down over the fact things have not improved.

The good news is Cathy finally receives a diagnosis – PMDD, the bad news it’s incurable. This news is shattering for the teenager.

She refuses to accept that she must put up with this for the rest of her life and sets her heart on finding a cure. Bob, Wendy and Bernice (Samantha Giles) try to help her come to terms with it, but she won’t listen.

She later becomes volatile and in a fit of blind rage, hurls a garden figure out of the B&B window. It narrowly misses Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker), signifying that things are going from bad to worse for Cathy. As she fails to control her rage, she shoves Wendy to the ground, forcing Bob to step in. But as he does so, he feels a twinge in his chest.

The gravity of her actions sinks in and Cathy does a runner. Liam finds her outside Tenants nursing a bleeding hand.

He gently encourages her to show him the injury and the two begin to talk. Cathy is warmed by the fact he’s willing to listen to her when it feels like no one else will.

His kindness is unexpected and welcome in a time when she feels so alone.

As they talk about her diagnosis and he continues to give her his time, it’s not long before she jumps to conclusions about what his intentions are. How will he react to her assumptions?

Next week’s Emmerdale episodes comprise of a lot of secrecy between couples, some tragic and others downright mysterious.

Lydia Dingle continues to be consumed by the pain of her trauma, after vile Craig raped her.

She has decided to keep her ordeal a secret from Sam (James Hooton), but it’s clear that everything is overwhelming for her.

As Sam and Samson (Sam Hall) obliviously get on with life, a tearful Lydia snaps at them, giving her husband an indication that something is on her mind.

But is Lydia ready to open up to him?

Elsewhere, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) plans to take Caleb Miligan (William Ash) on a very secretive road trip – which has really tickled our intrigue.

It’s something that he is keeping from Moira (Natalie J Robb), but when she discovers his duplicitous lie, she is on the warpath – and wants answers!

Elsewhere in the village, after her diagnosis, Cathy Hope hits upon a treatment that she thinks will cure her.

Her loved ones are horrified by her risky decision, but it appears she won’t be changing her mind.

Sam remains in the dark about what what has happened to Lydia, and she is tense as he discusses his joy at Samson getting on well with Craig.

As Lydia is texted by her vile rapist, she almost loses it and Sam is worried when she snaps at him

Cain wants to get away for a bit and asks Caleb to join him. He is mysterious when Caleb presses him for more information.

Wednesday September 13

Sam is working hard on the doll’s house but is gutted that the surprise is ruined when Amelia comes in with Esther.

Amelia is overjoyed with the gesture while Lydia hides her ongoing pain by gushing over the baby.

Cain tells Moira a false story about going to Holland on business but, when Nate walks in, he says he has no idea about the work trip, which is happening the next day.

After a flustered Cain leaves, Moira tells Nate they need to find out what is going on.

Thursday September 14

Bob is staggered when Cathy tells him that she is going to get a hysterectomy to battle her MNDD, after reading it online.

Wendy informs her that no doctor will do that procedure on someone so young, while Bob insists it’s not happening.

Cathy declares that it’s not up to him before shouting that she hates her life.

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) is struggling in upcoming Emmerdale episodes as she resolves to keep her rape ordeal a secret.

She was attacked by her former friend and employer Craig Reed (Ben Addis) when she went to hand in her resignation. Lydia had become uneasy after she and Craig shared a moment of closeness in the car after visiting the last resting place of their son, Toby.

Uncomfortable about continuing to work alongside Craig she decided that the best thing to do was to leave her job and avoid him. But when she told him of her decision he was heartbroken and told her that he thought fate – or Toby – had brought them back together deliberately.

While Lydia tried to decide how best to deal with the situation as it quickly became clear that Craig had feelings for her that went far beyond anything she was comfortable with, Craig forced himself on her.

After raping her he seemed oblivious to her shock and distress, even insisting on driving her home after the ordeal as if it was quite a normal thing to do.

As Lydia arrived home to Wishing Well, she’d already decided that she had to protect Sam (James Hooton) and the rest of the family by keeping the ordeal secret.

‘She feels guilty, she feels ashamed, she feels that it’s somehow her fault, she has put herself in that situation – which is completely incorrect,’ Karen Blick told us. ‘She’s fearful about being believed and she does not want to upset her family. That’s a big thing.

‘We see Lydia in the aftermath when she goes back to the Dingles’ and Sam and Mandy (Lisa Riley) are there. She’s thinking about others: “What will this do to Sam?” She just wants it to go away. “I’ll get on with this, I’m going to pretend this has not happened and get on with my life.” I can completely understand why she takes that decision.’

As a result, Lydia continues to struggle as the days go on and she tries desperately to carry on with her day to day life and not reveal that this traumatic, life-shattering thing has happened to her.

Karen Blick also told us that the shock is compounded by having to continue working for Craig, because she wants to keep helping Amelia (Daisy Cambell) and Esther financially.

‘She’s retraumatised when she sees him,’ Karen said. ‘She has a physical response, kind of post traumatic stress as a result of what she’s been through. Seeing him again brings up the images of what happened, the thoughts, the feelings regarding that. So she’s trying to process that. She’s having to go back to work pretty much every day. That’s the place where it happened, seeing the perpetrator who’s denying it even happened and her version of events.’

As time goes on there will be some light at the end of the tunnel for Lydia as she’s eventually able to get some support.

‘Emmerdale are taking their time with this and it’s not something that will just go away for Lydia,’ Karen explained.

‘There are lasting repercussions, but also looking at the healing process for Lydia. She is a strong woman who’s been through an awful lot in her life, as many women have. How she gathers herself together after this with the help and support of whatever route that she takes.’

With her dad Dan (Liam Fox) in prison for killing creepy pervert Lloyd (Matt Sutton), Emmerdale favourite Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) has been having a hard time coping on her own.

The whole village was stunned when Dan was sentenced to 8 years behind bars after a single punch resulted in Lloyd eventually dying from a head wound. Dan, not a violent person, had been trying to look out for his daughter and had lashed out in a moment of madness.

His imprisonment has left Amelia on her own for the first time in her life. While trying to put on a brave front, dealing with things like council tax while looking after baby Esther was all turning out to be rather a lot for her.

Noah (Jack Downham) was worried and confided in Chas (Lucy Pargeter), who came up with a solution: she invited Amelia and Esther to move into the Woolpack to live with her and Eve (Bella James).

At first Amelia rejected this offer, reasoning that she needed to keep living at Dale Head so Dan’s home would be there for him when he finally got out of prison. Eventually, however, the stresses of trying to cope on her own got too much and she accepted Chas’s offer.

In upcoming episodes we’ll see her settling in to her new home. And we’ll also see a new role for her as, keen to help pay her way, she offers to help Chas out behind the bar of the most famous pub in the Dales.

If Amelia takes to pulling pints with the same ease that she brought to bear when she started working at the salon, she’ll be a complete gift of a lodger for Chas. Mandy (Lisa Riley) was delighted at how quickly Amelia took to working in the salon, she’s a hard worker and she has plenty of initiative.

Plus, she’s got to be better than Gail (Rachael Gill-Davis).

She follows a long line of current and previous bar staff including Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromely), Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) and of course Mandy Dingle. Will she end up being a long-term fixture behind the bar too?

There’s been a lot of back and forth when it comes to Tom King (James Chase) and Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) relationship in Emmerdale.

Most recently, Tom was furious with Vinny (Bradley Johnson) when he failed to disclose details about Belle’s mental health and her history with Lachlan.

Vinny, who is friends with Belle, chose to keep quiet out of respect for his pal, but it made Tom jealous.

Tonight (September 7), Belle’s emotions were at the front of her mind as she realised how bothered she was by Tom and Dawn (Olivia Bromley) spending time together outside of work.

Belle told Chas (Lucy Pargeter) that she thinks Dawn and Tom look really natural when they hang out and doesn’t like that it’s impacted her so much.

Belle decided to try and move past her worries by attending the double date with Tom, Dawn and Billy (Jay Kontzle) at The Hide.

Tom was on call and eventually had to leave to attend a vet job, leaving Dawn to talk to Belle over her jealousy.

Dawn helped Belle and offered advice, telling her that being in love and in a relationship is scary, but definitely worth it.

Elsewhere, as Tom prepared to leave Holdgate, two young lads approached him. They wanted access to his shiny new car and initially, Tom refused to budge, but the teens then shoved and kicked Tom to the ground, giving them the chance to steal his keys and get into the vehicle.

After Belle arrived, she called the police.

PC Swirling explained that there had been an increase in car thefts around Emmerdale, with people being succesful in committing the crime thanks to drivers posting pictures on social media – which is exactly what Tom had done.

Tom assumed Swirling meant the theft was his fault and when Belle continued to pester about going to A&E, he snapped, telling Belle she should just go home and continue to sulk about her day as planned.

During the outburst, Tom hit the table and was certainly very horrible to Belle, but is this a sign of things to come?

Or will history repeat itself as the couple argue for a little while, but then get back on track?

Beloved character Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) faced another challenge in the aftermath of her rape in Emmerdale as she watched Samson (Sam Hall) start his first shift with Craig (Ben Addis) – the man who attacked her.

Lydia has tried her best to remain calm and in control after the assault but obviously, after such a harrowing ordeal, it hasn’t been that easy.

She almost made a mistake while working at Home Farm yesterday and then chose to set fire to the clothes she wore before and after she was raped.

In tonight’s (September 7) episode, Lydia decided to keep an eye on Samson during his work with Craig.

Craig’s job involves developing video games which Samson is hugely interested in. As Craig showed him around and chatted about the team meetings, Lydia watched in her cleaning tabard, unable to comprehend how Craig was going about his day as though nothing had happened.

Back at home, Samson smiled from ear to ear as he told Sam about his day. While Sam and Samson don’t share the same interests, Sam believes that Craig is a good man and was really happy to hear his son had been enjoying himself.

As they chatted, Lydia interrupted and said she was going to bed. Ever since the rape, Lydia has told her family and friends that she’s just tired and under the weather to try and account for her change in behaviour.

Heading up the stairs, all Lydia could do was silently cry as she heard Sam and Samson praise Craig, completely unaware of the dark and terrifying truth.

‘That’s important because so many women do do that and the impacts can be wide-ranging for families, for individuals,’ Karen Blick said, discussing why Lydia chose to not go to the police this week and is proceeding to keep quiet about what happened.

‘As soon as I played the scenes I completely understood why she did not go to the police. I had a real empathy, sympathy, understanding for her behaviour. She feels guilty, she feels ashamed, she feels that it’s somehow her fault, she has put herself in that situation – which is completely incorrect.

Director Matt Hilton has confirmed Emmerdale has finished filming for this year’s Super Soap Week.

Matt, who has also directed episodes on shows including Casualty and Coronation Street, revealed the milestone in a tweet.

He wrote: ‘Wrapped on Super Soap Week for @emmerdale yesterday and couldn’t have had a better shoot! So happy with what we have all accomplished together and can’t wait to see it assembled next week! Thank you to everyone involved for such a good time over the past month!.’

Matt also shared a picture of the Yorkshire Dales, where Emmerdale is filmed but sadly, we aren’t able to spot any clues as to what’s ahead in October!

Fortunately, we already know that the week of dramatic episodes will feature Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) as their storyline reaches a conclusion.

The young mum’s life will end up in danger next month as a car falls from a cliff – with Chloe trapped inside.

It’s believed that Mackenzie gets out of the vehicle in time but is seemingly unable to get Chloe to safety before the car plummets off the side of the cliff.

Charity and Mack are then seen in the middle of a heated exchange, presumably about the events that have just transpired.

‘These are certainly all-action scenes,’ a source told The Sun. ‘Charity is hellbent on getting revenge on Mackenzie after he chose to stay with Chloe.

‘But viewers will have to wait to see who survives…’

Super Soap Week will also mark an end to Executive Producer Jane Hudson’s time on the show, who will depart on September 22 after five years in the role.

Emmerdale star Samantha Giles has embarked on a new lifestyle change, by hiring a personal trainer, and has opened up to fans about how she is finding it.

Taking to Instagram, the Bernice Blackstock actress shared a video following an ‘intense’ training session.

‘So excuse me if I’m looking a bit hot and sweaty but I’ve just had a very, very intensive workout with a personal trainer. Who would have thought it?

‘I’m trying to get fitter and it’s killing me. So yeah but it’s good, all good, I shall keep you updated on my progress.’

Fans were quick to hit the comments section with words of encouragement for Samantha’s new journey, sending her ‘positive thoughts’.

‘All good positive thoughts for your fitness,’ one said.

‘You can do this, keep it up,’ another wrote.

‘Well done Samantha,’ a third penned, adding two love heart emojis.

Her update comes after the announcement that she is set to bow out of her Emmerdale role in dramatic fashion in the near future.

Samantha has played Bernice since 1998, but has left the role three times to focus on other projects.

Her most recent return came about in 2021, with a storyline that saw her attempt to put a stop to Liam Cavanagh’s (Jonny McPherson) wedding to Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi).

In recent months, Bernice has teamed up with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) to take over the B&B after Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) announced that he was selling up.

Speaking about her return in 2021 and pursuing her love for other projects, Samantha said:

‘As an actress leaving a role that you love is always a hard decision and I’d been lucky to work so consistently for so long which is rare in our business, so I knew the time had come to be brave and take the leap back in 2019 to pursue my other passion of writing and focus on getting my first book published.

‘I’ve now had such a lovely response with Rosemary and The Witches of Pendle Hill and the down time of the pandemic meant I was able to complete my next two books. I’m a big believer in fate so when Emmerdale offered me the chance to return as Bernice I took it as a sign that it was meant to be.’

Tempers are flaring in next week’s episodes of Emmerdale, leaving relationships pushed to boiling point.

Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) is feeling vindicated and relieved to be given a diagnosis at last, but her symptoms soon erupt once more.

Having been informed that her condition will be managed rather than controlled, the teen lashes out, targeting Bob (Tony Audenshaw), Wendy (Susan Cookson) and Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker).

It then becomes clear that she isn’t giving up on finding a further solution – but can she?

Elsewhere, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) is seething as Cain (Jeff Hordley) is keeping secrets from her again.

However, she hasn’t got an inkling of what he is up to. It involves some kind of mysterious road trip with Caleb Miligan (William Ash) – what does he have to show him?

And will Moira discover what they’re up to?

In other developments, Lydia (Karen Blick) continues to suffer in secret in the aftermath of her traumatic ordeal, while, ahead of his exit after 17 years, David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) has an admission to make.

Monday September 11

Lydia struggles in the aftermath of the rape. Following her ordeal, she continues to suffer in silence.

Grieving Claudette admits she needed Charles’ support more than she told him, making Manpreet feel guilty as she continues to keep his secret.

Gabby insists on selling up and leaving the village behind.

Tuesday September 12

Amelia settles in living with Chas and keen to contribute, helps out behind the Woolpack bar. 

Getting serious after receiving a mysterious text during some sibling banter in the Woolpack, Cain asks if Caleb would like to get out of town for a bit.

After a furtive phone call, Cain’s determined to keep the reason for their road trip a secret, and asks Caleb to come up with an excuse for Moira and watchful Chas.

Wednesday September 13

There’s relief all round as Cathy is officially diagnosed with PMDD. Bob’s sympathetic to Cathy’s condition but she’s left feeling disappointed and desperate when her treatment is to manage her symptoms instead of an outright cure.

Back at the B&B, an upset and volatile Cathy blindsides Bob by defiantly insisting she wants to find a cure to stop her PMDD symptoms.

Cain and Caleb make a pact to stick together as they head off on their mysterious road trip while Moira watches on, simmering that Cain has left when she’d asked him not to.

Thursday September 14

Despite the best efforts of Bob, Wendy and Bernice, Cathy is unrelenting in her desire to cure her PMDD. Later, in a heated moment, Cathy throws a garden ornament through a B&B window, just missing Manpreet.

When Wendy tries to intervene, Cathy takes her anger out on her, and shoves her to the ground. Bob runs to help but feels a twinge in his chest. Manpreet checks over Bob.

Cathy’s concerned to see her Dad struggle but Wendy tells her to leave him and Cathy runs off, bleeding from a cut on her hand.

After Liam finds Cathy outside Tenants with her hand bleeding, she begrudgingly allows him to look at it. Cathy reluctantly appreciates Liam’s promise to listen to her.

Chloe’s thrilled when Mack suggests going on a date. 

Friday September 15

David admits that his feelings for Victoria are burgeoning once again, but there’s a sense Jacob’s not happy about it.

Cathy jumps to conclusion as those around her remain worried after recent events.

With a spate of Emmerdale exits on the cards, another stalwart may be set to leave the soap after 22 years as Gabby (Rosie Bentham) decides it’s time to move on from the village.

Gabby only recently returned from a trip to Portugal to get Nicky (Lewis Cope) out of her head and to forget about trying it on with Billy (Jay Kontzle). It looks like it didn’t do the trick as she’s already ready to leave it all behind once again.

Having realised there is little left for her in the village except for painful memories, she insists she wants to sell up and make the village a distant memory. Will she head back to Portugal for a life with Diane?

If she were to go for good, she would follow a lot of sad departures for the soap, as many more are expected in the coming weeks and months.

We’ve already lost Rishi (Bhasker Patel) who’s sudden death at the bottom of the stairs still brings a little pang of pain to our hearts. He died amongst bad feeling with son Jai (Chris Bisson) after the discovery of his adoption and his was a death absolutely no one saw coming.

After his character’s untimely demise, Bhasker posted online: ‘I feel privileged to have been part of the show for 12 years. I have loved it and will miss it enormously, especially my friends and working in the beautiful village of Emmerdale. Thank you for watching. Stay safe, Bhasker.’ RIP Rishi, you legend.

We’re also shortly set to lose David (Matthew Wolfenden) from our Emmerdale screens after 17 years. The shop will never be the same! The actor is said to be leaving due to ‘lack of gritty storylines’, which has sent him looking elsewhere. How David will bow out is still a mystery. Speculation is already rife about it though, with theories ranging from death from testicular cancer to Meena making a shock return. We’ll have to wait and see!

Another exit on the card is that of Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles). She’s been good craic in Emmerdale in and off for over 25 years. No one will be able to execute her dark and perfectly timed humour quite as well. She’s set to leave later this year, but thankfully a source has already said she’d be welcome back any time. In which case let’s hope she’s not bumped off!

And then of course there is Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson, responsible for such storylines as Meena’s (Paige Sandhu) murderous rampage, Marlon’s (Mark Charnock) stroke, and Paddy’s (Dominic Brunt) mental health, as well as the huge returns of Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Kim Tate (Claire King). (Of course we also have her to blame for Rishi’s demise!).

It’s been an incredible five years of storylines, but as Jane said herself, she ‘can’t wait to be an Emmerdale viewer again’. Can’t blame her really, it’s pretty damn good.

We’ve also of course recently lost the likes of Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) and Victor Anderson (Eddie Osei).

With any luck, that’s it for the list of leavers the time being as our little hearts can’t take losing any more favourites. For now, it’s a waiting game to see how these much-loved faces say their goodbyes.

As for Gabby, only time will tell whether she is taking a break or whether she might leave the Dales for good.

Home Farm would certainly be quiet without her, but with unfinished business, Metro.co.uk understands that her time is far from over.

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) attempted to carry on as normal after being raped in Emmerdale.

The beloved character was attacked by Craig (Ben Addis) in last night’s (September 5) episode of the ITV soap. Craig and Lydia grew up together in a children’s home and after reconnecting, Craig said that he had very strong feelings for Lydia.

Lydia didn’t feel the same and reminded Craig that she’s married and has a son, but Craig ignored what she was saying and raped her.

In tonight’s episode, Lydia was distant but tried her best to remain her usual self in front of her friends and family.

She headed to work at Home Farm, but Kim (Claire King) immediately picked up on something not being right when Lydia nearly made a mistake with the cleaning.

Kim encouraged Lydia to sit down and for a moment, it looked as though she was going to tell her friend about the attack.

Lydia then changed her mind and told Kim that she’s had a lot going on with Dan (Liam Fox) leaving and Craig coming back into her life and is more than likely just a bit tired.

As the day continued, Lydia decided to book a taxi to Hotten Police Station, but she was interrupted when Sam (James Hooton) returned home, explained that he had spent time with Craig and thinks he’s a nice man.

After dashing out of the house, we found Lydia walking in the woods. She then opened a bag and tipped the contents out.

On the floor were the clothes Lydia wore yesterday before and after she was raped, which means Craig’s DNA would be on them.

Lydia then chose to pour liquid over the clothes and set them on fire.

What came next was truly devastating. Lydia let out an animalistic scream and burst into tears, her whole world crumbling around her – and she feels she cannot tell anyone what’s going on.

‘That’s important because so many women do do that and the impacts can be wide-ranging for families, for individuals,’ Karen Blick said, discussing why Lydia chose to not go to the police.

‘As soon as I played the scenes I completely understood why she did not go to the police. I had a real empathy, sympathy, understanding for her behaviour. She feels guilty, she feels ashamed, she feels that it’s somehow her fault, she has put herself in that situation – which is completely incorrect.

Caleb Milligan (William Ash) had a huge offer for Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) in Wednesday’s (September 6) episode of Emmerdale.

Gabby has struggled with life in the village ever since Nicky (Lewis Cope) confirmed that he wasn’t able to marry her because he’s gay, and was only in a relationship with her as part of Caleb’s plan to bring down Home Farm.

Gabby has been desperate to get revenge on Nicky and even attempted to blackmail Billy (Jay Kontzle) over it last week, but the young businesswoman was put in her place by Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and Kim (Claire King), leaving her backed into a corner once more.

In tonight’s episode, Gabby continued to maintain that she wanted to leave the Dales and spread her wings.

However, before she can turn her focus to packing her bags, Gabby knows she needs to think about selling HOP.

In the cafe, after a chat with Bernice (Samantha Giles), Gabby approached Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb, who are now a lot more friendlier with each other after an incident last week.

As expected, Gabby gave her opinion on Cain forgiving Caleb and alluded to her exit, saying that she can’t wait to sell HOP and leave so she doesn’t have to look at Caleb’s ‘snide face’.

The thought of owning a new business and earning a lot more money made Caleb’s ears prick up. He then made his way over to The Hide and told Gabby that he could buy the business from her.

Initially, Gabby said that she didn’t want anything to do with Caleb, but he then pointed out that he can give her over the asking price – and she was very tempted.

So, what will Gabby do?

If she accepts Caleb’s offer, what will Kim think?

Emmerdale spoiler pictures for next week confirm a shocking showdown following a diagnosis, a big health concern and the aftermath of a devastating ordeal.

There is also suspicion when Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) receives a mysterious text, with subsequent scenes seeing him ask Caleb Miligan (William Ash) if he’d like to get out of town for a bit.

But just what is it that’s spooked him?

That remains to be seen, but the hard-man mechanic goes out of his way to keep the reason from his loved ones, who are keeping a watchful eye on him.

Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) learns of the impending trip and asks Cain not to go, but she’s ultimately left seething when he ignores her wishes.

Cain and Caleb aren’t the only potential departures in the village during the week in question, as Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) contemplates moving away once and for all, relaying such a thing to a stunned Kim Tate (Claire King).

Will she follow through?

Elsewhere, Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) is relieved when she’s diagnosed with PMDD but she’s soon left disappointed as she learns that her treatment is to manage her symptoms instead of an outright cure.

Her frustrations grow and she lashes out, nearly hitting Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) with a garden ornament before pushing Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson) to the ground.

Bob tries to intervene, but he feels a twinge in his chest. Will he be okay?
