Evelyn in her pyjamas in Coronation Street
Evelyn was not happy with her new flatmate (Picture: ITV)

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) recently came up with a solution to a very specific set of housing problems on Coronation Street.

With Cassie (Claire Sweeney) having moved in with Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and the girls, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) was refusing to be under the same roof with her but that meant staying at the precinct flat, clutching a hot water bottle because it was a less than cosy situation.

Roy’s idea was for Evelyn to move in with him, and Lauren (Cait Fitton) – who was also looking for a place to stay – could have the precinct flat.

Over the years Roy has had a range of different flatmates. There was his beloved wife Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh), of course. But at other times Carla Connor (Alison King) has been a long-term resident, as has Roy’s niece Nina (Mollie Gallagher). Even Ken Barlow (William Roache) has stayed at the flat.

So Roy, despite being one of the Street’s most eccentric characters, has also shown himself to be prepared to adapt to the needs and ways of people very different to himself.

Evelyn Plummer, however, is a whole new level of different. And life with the famously cantankerous great-grandmother did not get off to a great start in Wednesday (September 13)’s episode.

To start with, she was woken at an early hour by Roy listening to the Shipping Forecast. He finds it soothing, while she finds people talking about ‘German bights and dogging’ anything but relaxing. Roy offered to use headphones while listening, but Evelyn had a point to make and she wasn’t ready to be appeased.

Issuing orders to Roy to get some shopping in because his cupboards were empty she flounced back to the flat.

Later Tyrone told Evelyn to go easy on Roy, reminding her that it was him who was doing her a favour and not the other way round. Accordingly she went off to do the shopping herself.

On her return, it was Roy’s turn to find fault. They would be having lamb chops, jacket potatoes and salad, Evelyn informed him.

‘Delicious,’ he said. ‘Potentially.’

Was he casting aspersions on Evelyn’s cooking skills? Well, no. It was her choice of spud that had him bothered. These were just standard baking potatoes and not his preferred option: ‘Maris Piper. The Rolls Royce of jacket potatoes.’

Evelyn stormed out, but later she returned with a bag of Roy’s preferred root vegetables and apologised for ‘stalking out.’

‘I’m sorry I was so lofty on the potato front,’ he conceded.

‘Nothing wrong with knowing what you like,’ she told him.

It seemed like peace had been restored, but by the time they headed back to the flat the Shipping Forecast discussion had reignited, Evelyn was getting irritable and Roy was trying to keep the peace.

If they can get through this settling in period without killing each other they’re going to end up being the best of flatmates – and in the meantime for the viewers they’re comedy gold.

Courtney and Aadi kiss in Coronation Street
The truth was finally revealed (Picture: ITV)

The bistro in Coronation Street is the place to go if you’re after a bit of drama served with your delicious lunch.

Wednesday (September 13)’s episode dished up quite the feast as Dev (Jimmi Harkishin)’s lunch date with Darren Vance (Ryan Early) went just about as well as we were expecting – considering secret lovers Courtney (Stephanie Davis) and Aadi (Adam Hussain) were also present.

The meal was intended to celebrate Dev and Darren going into business together, so Aadi was invited because he’d helped to get the deal through. Amy (Elle Mulvaney) came along as Aadi’s plus one, meaning that there was another person around the table who knew what was going on between Courtney and Aadi and could cringe on behalf of the viewer at key points.

Prior to the meal Aadi had become annoyed when Dev referred to Amy as if she was his girlfriend, so he pretended he already had a girlfriend called Monica. At the lunch table Dev mentioned Monica, and Courtney told Aadi she was very intrigued to hear all about her.

Aadi launched into some high praise of his beautiful, intelligent girlfriend – with Courtney realising his words were directed at her. This lit a spark of passion in her and it wasn’t long before she was heading for the bistro’s bathroom, texting Aadi to join her.

And that’s where Dev caught them, glued to each other’s faces. And, speaking of faces, Dev’s initial reaction was that Darren would rearrange Aadi’s if he knew that he was messing about with his wife.

Back at the table more tensions were rising as Darren revealed to the people who were still seated that he thought his wife was having an affair and he was determined to find out who with.

When Courtney returned to the table she confirmed she was, indeed, having an affair. ‘Makes us even,’ she snapped at Darren, who apparently hasn’t been a model of fidelity himself.

Courtney was feeling reckless and said that the person she was seeing was ‘hiding in plain sight.’ As Darren got drunk and threatened to ‘pulverise’ whoever it was, his wife had an additional clue. ‘He’s got great hair,’ she said as she flounced out.

Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) had been getting suspicious that Dev’s interest in Courtney was more than just friendly and when she factored in Dev’s magnificent head of hair she put two and two together. Darren was one step ahead of her and was already lunging at Dev.

With his dad’s face at risk of being rearranged, Aadi had to speak up and reveal that he, not Dev, is Courtney’s secret lover.

Darren was so gobsmacked he didn’t even think of thumping him, merely muttered that he would spend the rest of his life stacking shelves for his old man.

Back at home, Aadi was putting a brave face on the whole situation and told Dev he thought he was in love with Courtney and would have a word with Darren and sort everything out. Dev – older, wiser and way more experienced in messy relationships – didn’t think it would be that easy. He despaired at how his son had managed to mess up his life and mess up a business deal which could have made all their lives more comfortable.

And then Courtney appeared. Darren had kicked her out so she’d rushed straight to her young boyfriend’s house.

Dev insisted she couldn’t stay with them even after Aadi had gallantly offered to give up his own bed for her. He told her to leave.

‘If she’s not welcome here then neither am I,’ Aadi said, making his dad choose between his business ambitions and his son. ‘I’m telling you straight, Dad – if she goes, I go! For good!

‘Who are you going to back – your son and his girlfriend or your good mate?’

Dev couldn’t cope with either the decision or the situation – so he walked out of his own house. He’s going to have to walk back in eventually, but will he be ready to face Aadi?

Billy talks to Paul outside their flat in Coronation Street
Billy wishes he was in Paul’s shoes instead (Picture: ITV)

As Paul Foreman (Peter Ash)’s physical health deteriorates on Coronation Street, it seems that almost every day brings new challenges for him and his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) to deal with.

Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in April this year when he started suffering from weakness in one of his hands. He knows that the condition will get progressively worse and that ultimately he’s facing an early death because of it.

While his friends and family have tried their best to be supportive, one person who really understands is Paul’s friend Shelly (Natalie Amber), who he met at a MND support group. When he first met Shelly Paul was overwhelmed at the sight of her in her wheelchair, as he realised it was a glimpse into his own future. As he got to know her she’s been a huge help to him, as she knows exactly what he’s going through.

In Wednesday (September 13)’s episode he’d had a letter offering him an appointment with a palliative care nurse, and the suggestion that he might be looking at end of life care completely threw him.

A chat with Shelly helped him to put things in perspective, as she explained her own palliative care nurse was a huge help to her and it was all about making the most of the time he had left and being as comfortable as possible.

Paul told her about some things on his bucket list. He said he’d never seen the iron men on Crosby beach, and he’d never been to Scotland. But mostly, he admitted heartbreakingly, he just wanted to hang around with Billy.

Paul’s terminal diagnosis has, of course, been massively hard on Billy and he hasn’t always handled things as well as he could. He has a tendency to try to take over and do things for his partner, leaving Paul feeling frustrated.

When Paul got back from Shelly’s – walking painfully and with difficulty using a stick – he was annoyed to see Billy about to bring a wheelchair into the flat. It was a harsh reminder of the day that’ll come soon when Paul can no longer walk.

‘I can just cover it with a bit of tarpaulin,’ Billy suggested. Paul said he would still know it was there. But he conceded that one day he would need it. ‘Have wheelchair, will travel.’

‘I wish it was me and not you,’ Billy told him, movingly. ‘I do. I just wish I could take it off of you.’

So, so sad.

Ed outside Dev's shop in Corrie
He loses control (Picture: ITV)

Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) gives into temptation in Coronation Street soon as he takes to betting on horses to distract his mind after the news of a horrific death.

Over the past few years, Ed’s gambling addiction has been under control, but he has found himself on the cusp of a relapse after seeing some betting ads on his computer, and being given a business card by Ronnie (Vinta Morgan).

The business card was a risky move for the siblings. Not only does it give Ed access to a lot of money, but he can use it without anyone knowing, increasing the chance of the gambling being kept secret for longer.

Coming up, while in the pub, Ed and his mates gather to watch the football match.

They are joined by Neil, who works as a manager for the site the Bailey brothers are building houses on.

Neil suggests they have a flutter as the game continues and Ed is sorely tempted.

In the week, Ed finds Neil and apologises for snapping at him in the pub. He explains that he used to be addicted to gambling, and then carries on with his work on the building site.

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) gets Ronnie to sign some forms and points out that he’s taking as risk starting work on the site before completion of the purchases.

When Ronnie returns to the land, he spots Ed with the digger driver and a uniformed Craig (Colson Smith).

As he approaches, Ronnie peers into a hole in the ground, only to come across a dead body!

It becomes apparent that the body is that of Leo Thompkins, who was murdered by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) last year.

As Craig and the team begin an investigation, Dee-Dee breaks the news to Ed and Ronnie that the investor has pulled out of the project.

Ronnie reckons they should cut their losses, but Ed’s adamant that it’s too late to pull out.

When he’s alone, Ed watches the horse racing with his adrenaline pumping.

As Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) faces the reality that Leo was murdered, will the Bailey family face their own drama if Ed throws so much money away?

Lucy Fallon on a red carpet
Lucy Fallon has opened up candidly about how Covid lockdowns threw everything into chaos (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street favourite Lucy Fallon has shared her regrets over leaving the soap, branding it the ‘worst decision I could have ever made.’

Bethany Platt left the show in scenes airing January 2020, just two months before the country locked down entirely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s something that Lucy could never have prepared for and, ahead of her exciting upcoming return, she has spoken candidly about the struggles she has endured in her career between her two stints.

‘I was on Corrie for five years. I left in January 2020, which was potentially the worst possible decision I could have ever made,’ she reflected.

‘We went into full lockdown in the March, which I feel like in a way, did me a few favours, as I could get away from that character and not have the pressure that I needed to be doing something – because nobody was doing anything.’

She was speaking on the podcast, BTS With, she continued: ‘The worst question you can get asked when you aren’t working is “what are you doing now? What are you doing next? What TV show are you going to be on now” as if it works like that.

.Even though lockdown was horrendous, I sort of enjoyed that time in a way, just not having to worry about the fact people were going to ask me that.

‘But it also killed me that I was probably on a bit of a high when I left Corrie, and then lockdown fizzled that out.

‘When things started back up again, I struggled to find my place in auditions. Then everything just started to fall apart a little bit, in terms of work and acting.

‘I’ll be honest, I have struggled, it’s been hard – the main reason is because we were in a global pandemic.’

At the time of her departure, Lucy Fallon told podcast Soap From The Box that she had managed to dip her toes into other projects, after feeling Bethany needed a rest from ‘storyline after storyline’.

‘I’ve done different shows, I did Don’t Rock the Boat, a reality thing. I did All Star Musicals. So I have done things but if I hadn’t left I might have been stuck in situations that I didn’t particularly want to be in. Now I feel peaceful and happy.’

And, of course, she has had a busy and uplifting time off-screen too. Lucy welcomed her first child, named Sonny Jude, with her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson earlier this year.

Three and a half years on, and it has been confirmed that she will be treading the cobbles again and reuniting with the Platt family, in a comeback that is expected to air around this year’s Christmas episodes.

You can listen to Lucy’s full interview with BTS With by following this link to the episode on Spotify.

A familiar face to Coronation Street viewers has popped up in daytime soap Doctors, as Tisha Merry can currently be seen in the popular show as a character called Serena Bradley.

Tisha previously played Steph Britton on Coronation Street for over 300 episodes between 2013 and 2018.

Steph was a waitress and supervisor at the bistro who was friends with Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) and shared a flat with Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan). Her brother Luke Britton (Dean Fagan) was killed by evil Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).

Steph, who had fled to Portugal after Phelan caused her to believe her boyfriend Andy Carver (Oliver Farnworth) had ended their relationship, returned for Luke’s funeral in January 2018.

In May 2019 it was confirmed that Tisha was dating her Corrie co-star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in the show.

Alan confirmed the speculation that they were a couple after posting pictures on his Instagram as they both attended Sam Aston (Chesney)’s wedding to Briony Gardner.

Alan, who has been in Coronation Street since 1996, has joked about the age gap between him and Tisha, who is 10 years his junior.

He shared snaps of himself having beauty treatments in an apparent effort to maintain his youthful good looks, captioning the picture, ‘The s**t ya have to do when your girlfriends 10 years younger than you!!’

The couple frequently share pictures of their life together, including giving fans a look around their house when they were spending the covid lockdown together.

Tisha has previously spoken about when she started at Coronation Street – and how she was rejected on her first day by an over-zealous security guard.

‘I auditioned, got the part, turned up on my first day and they were like, no. Everyone was in the green room you’ve got Gail, Alan, everyone,’ she recalled.

‘They were like sorry no you’re not here to play Steph, I was, no I am and I had to wait outside for an hour before anyone would let me in.

‘No one believed I was playing the part! I was like I’m cursed, this role isn’t for me! I didn’t actually have a proper audition I just blagged my way onto Corrie.’

Hopefully there weren’t any hiccups of that sort when Tisha turned up to start work on Doctors. Fans of the show have already seen her debut, as her character Serena arrived to stir things up with Claudia (Kiza Deen) over her relationship with Bear Sylvester (Dex Lee).

Stephen looking menacing in Coronation Street
Are you brave enough to watch Stephen with Stephen? (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street has announced a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans to watch an upcoming episode alongside cast member Todd Boyce, who plays the dastardly Stephen Reid.

Fans have spent months wondering when Stephen’s crimes will finally catch up with him, and it appears that the storyline may be set to come to a close in the near future, with fans getting the opportunity to learn whether Stephen will face his comeuppance or escape justice alongside the man himself.

ITV’s Coronation Street Experience is giving brave fans the chance to join Todd Boyce on Friday October 13 to watch a live screening of that evening’s episode.

The event is set to celebrate the legacies of Corrie and it’s latest villain, and will be hosted by ‘Soap Queen’ Sharon Marshall.

Following the screening of the episode, fans will be treated to an exclusive Q&A session with Todd, where they will be given an insight into what it is like to play Corrie’s latest villain.

There will also be the opportunity for Premium ticket holders to meet Todd, and pose for a photo behind a replica of the Rovers Return bar.

ITV’s Controller of Global Brand Licensing (UK)James Penfold has said: ‘We know the viewers want the chance to connect more closely with our programmes and at Corrie our new visitor centre gives us the opportunity to do just that.

‘It’s exciting for all of us to be able to give fans the chance to experience something unique.

‘This event is the start of a series of special evenings which we hope will not only give fans memories for a lifetime, it will also give our cast and crew the chance to meet the people who make the show what it is, our viewers.’

Todd Boyce is equally as excited about the upcoming event, and has said: ‘I can’t wait to watch our fans watch me, with me, as my storyline heads towards one of its biggest moments yet!

‘That said, I’m slightly nervous at their reaction – they all know what Stephen’s been up to, I’m just hoping Sharon is as good a bodyguard as I know she will be a host!?’

Tickets for the event will be on sale from today (September 13) via the Coronation Street Experience website.

Are you brave enough?

It’s time to say goodbye to Coronation Street star Todd Boyce and, while fans might be delighted to see serial killer Stephen Reid get his comeuppance, it’s a sad time for the Corrie cast as they send off their much loved co-star.

After just over a year back in the show, Todd has enjoyed a night out with friends and colleagues to mark his leaving.

With the controversial character looking set to depart in a highly dramatic October storyline, to coincide with ITV’s Super Soap Week, it’s a double-edged sword for the show.

But his friends weren’t letting him go without a party, as they were spotted together recently.

And the actors repped very well, with even rarely seen in public Helen Worth (the iconic Gail Platt) making it to the do.

Todd gave a thumbs up to cameras as he clearly enjoyed his night out, and stars attending included Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Tina O’Brien (Sarah Platt) and Paula Wilcox (Elaine Jones), all who have been central to the explosive plotline.

Among the others joining the gang were Mollie Gallagher (Nina Lucas), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt) and Colson Smith (Craig Tinker).

Arriving in the daytime, everyone were still enjoying themselves as night fell, clearly very fond of both Todd and a brilliant night out.

Having a much less favourable time is Stephen himself, as his many murders finally come to light.

Things continue to fall apart for Stephen in the coming weeks, as the remains of Leo’s body will be found on the building site Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) recently acquired.

Scenes have also been filmed at a canal, with police and Corrie locals gathering to see another horrifying find pulled out. It comes as Tim tracks shifty Stephen to the canal, where viewers know he concealed Teddy’s body.

‘We are going to see him start taking risks,’ Todd Boyce told us. ‘As he gets more desperate, his life is starting to unravel and it is going to be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure

‘He is bound to start making mistakes and that could be his undoing.’

Pictures also showed Todd filming at an airport, but will Stephen make his getaway and escape justice – or will he be caught?

And might another life be lost in the chaos?

The character took over the role as Weatherfield villain last September, after murdering Leo Thompkins.

Since then, Stephen has gone on to kill Leo’s dad Teddy, and a businessman called Rufus.

In other atrocities, he planned to kill wife Elaine by poisoning her, and also drove Carla to despair after repeatedly drugging her with LSD.

That’s a lot of stuff to face the consequences for, and fans can expect it all to play out over the next months.

Stu looking sad in Corrie
Stu and Peter haven’t interacted much (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street star Bill Fellows has spoken of his sadness ahead of Peter Barlow actor Chris Gascoyne’s exit from the show.

It was announced earlier this year that Chris would be taking an extended break 23 years after first joining the show, during which time character Peter has had a tumultuous life.

Storylines have seen him suffer through alcoholism, be found guilty of the murder of Tina McIntyre despite being innocent, and participate in numerous affairs.

In all his time on the show, one character he hasn’t had much interaction with is Stu Carpenter, played by Bill Fellows.

Bill has recently expressed his disappointment at not having been able to work with Chris, despite them being good friends.

‘A very good friend of mine who I’ve had very little to do with is Chris Gascoyne but unfortunately he is leaving,’ he told The Mirror.

‘It’s sad but hopefully I will have a few little things with him [before he goes], but everyone is so good and so nice.’

He went on to reveal who he enjoys working with on set, with none other than William Roache, who plays Peter’s dad Ken, coming out on top.

‘I’ve already had scenes with Ken played by Bill Roache, which is great. There’s loads of characters I’d like to do a scene with. I really do like working with Bill I have to say.’

It is as yet unknown how or when Peter will leave Weatherfield, but actor Chris Gascoyne already has his next job lined up.

He is set to play Captain Hook in the pantomime Peter Pan across the festive season.

The show is being staged at The Alban Arena and boasts a ‘star-studded’ cast, as well as ‘stunning sets and dazzling costumes’.

Coronation Street spoilers
Secrets come out in Corrie this week (Picture: ITV)

There are grim discoveries and sordid secrets next week in Coronation Street.

For Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), his world is on the brink of crashing when a body is discovered, while Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) may be about to be caught as he continues to send intimate videos.

Check out our full episode guide.

Monday September 18

Summer hands Billy and Paul a polaroid camera for their stag do and explains that phones are banned. Paul’s thrilled. As they arrive at the bistro Billy’s taken aback by all the glitter and the rainbows but Paul loves it.

Gemma leads the drinking games and Billy starts to relax.

Meanwhile the police call at No.7 and tell Bernie they’d like her to answer some questions regarding a potential fraud investigation involving Shelly Rothington.

At the station, Bernie makes out she’s simply helping a young woman with MND by collecting a few parcels for her. But the police have a shock revelation for Bernie that leaves Paul reeling.

Ed struggles when Neil, their site manager, suggests they bet on when the digger will turn up. In the Rovers, the lads gather to watch the match. When Neil suggests they have a flutter, Ed’s sorely tempted.

At Dev’s request, Aadi suggests to Courtney that she make a contribution to the household bills. Courtney’s evasive.

As Todd gets ready for work, George makes waspish remarks about RestEasy. When Troy tells Todd that he’s promised a client a service they can’t deliver and he’d like him to break the bad news, Todd paints on a smile, secretly dreading it.

Ryan receives a message from an O-Vidz subscriber offering to pay extra for a live video.

Ed apologises to Neil for snapping at him and explains he used to be a gambling addict. In the solicitors’ office, Dee-Dee gets Ronnie to sign some forms and points out he’s taking a risk starting work on the site before completion of the purchase.

Meanwhile Ed notices the digger driver looks troubled and hurries over. Ronnie arrives at the building site to see Ed talking to a uniformed Craig. Ronnie peers into the hole where the digger has unearthed a dead body!

Carla reminds a reluctant Ryan that he’s due to start his first shift at Underworld. Ryan starts in packing but when he receives a message on his O-Vidz from a guy requesting a personal video, he nips to the loo to send some nude pics.

However when he receives a message back telling him only a live video will do, and they’ll pay £500, Ryan makes a decision.

Having confided in Todd, Paul implores him to keep schtum about his assisted dying plan. When Todd admits that RestEasy isn’t for him, Mary urges him to talk to George. Todd goes to ask George for his old job back.

As Steve goads Tim over his lack of fitness, Tim takes his revenge when Steve leaves his phone unattended. Stephen and Jenny are loved up as they return from Paris.

A loved up Jenny tells Stephen it’s time he moved into the pub. Stephen returns to work full of the joys, but his mood soon changes when he hears a body has been found on Ed and Ronnie’s building site.

Masking his inner turmoil, Stephen makes out he’s got a migraine. Back at the pub Stephen presses Ed for more details.

When Ed confirms that it was definitely a man’s body, Stephen’s heart sinks. A uniformed Craig calls at the pub and breaks the news to Jenny that the body is that of Leo’s. Jenny reels in shock, is the game up for Stephen?

As Peter wonders what Ryan is going to do for money, he assures him that his fitness videos are really starting to pay off.

The ante upped, a nervous Ryan agrees to a call where he talks dirty to the guy who messaged him.

When Peter overhears, he tells Carla that it’s no wonder Ryan spends so much time in his room as he heard him having phone sex. Daisy listens, unnerved, before confronting Ryan to ask what’s going on.

Dee-Dee breaks the news that the investor has pulled out of the building project.

Ronnie reckons they should cut their losses, but Ed’s adamant it’s too late to pull out. Alone, Ed watches the horse racing, adrenaline pumping.

Relations are strained between Todd and George as it quickly becomes clear Lee is not cut out for the job but neither wants to admit it.

Paul goes over Shelly’s funeral arrangements with George and explains he’s written some words about her that he’d like placed with her body.

Daisy wants answers from Ryan in Coronation Street
Daisy confronts Ryan over phone sex (Picture: ITV)

Confusion and misunderstandings abound in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott)’s online activities start to raise suspicion.

Ryan has been struggling with his body image since the horrific acid attack that left his face permanently scarred. In an effort to take back control he started to post images of himself online and has been taking steroids to try and change his physical appearance.

He’s created an account on O-Vidz, which is similar to OnlyFans, where people subscribe to see content which can often be explicit or intimate in nature.

Ryan Prescott told us how the type of content that Ryan is posting quickly changes.

‘You have to go above and beyond these typical fitness shots and start with more sexual images, incentive pictures and the more people that come into that world hooked by those pictures the more broader your audience becomes, and with the broadening of your audience, they ask for different things,’ he said.

‘Within one week of posting incentive pictures, he was having a one on one live session. There’s probably a week in between sending pictures and him doing a one on one live, interactive session. He is very quickly swallowed up by it and as the money starts coming in he is hooked.’

In episodes to be aired soon Ryan starts a new job in the Underworld packing department, but it’s not long before he gets an O-Vidz message asking for a personal video. He quickly nips to the loo and sends some nude pictures, but when the customer says they want a live video and will pay £500, Ryan can’t resist the money.

He agrees to take a call from the client who wants him to talk dirty. This is overheard by Peter (Chris Gascoyne), who assumes Ryan is having phone sex and makes a comment to Carla (Alison King) about it.

Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) listens to Peter and Carla’s conversation and she’s unnerved by what she hears, worrying about what Ryan is getting himself into.

She confronts him about what’s going on. Will her tell her the truth?

Stephen and Leo fight in Corrie
Leo was killed last year (Picture: ITV)

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) is skating on very thin ice next week in Coronation Street as the body of one of his murder victims is found.

The victim in question is Leo Thompkins. He was killed by evil Stephen last September, after discovering the buisnessman’s plan to steal all of Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) money.

After Leo’s death, Stephen transported the body and buried it.

A year on from this, Stephen is at risk of his secrets being revealed as Leo’s body will be found on the building site Ed and Ronnie (Trevor Michael Georges and Vinta Morgan) recently acquired.

Coming up, after being tempted to gamble again, Ed finds Neil the site manager an apologises for his behaviour in the pub.

Meanwhile, in the solicitors office, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) gets Ronnie to sign some forms and points out that he’s taking a risk by starting work on the site before completion of the purchase.

Unaware of what’s going on, Stephen returns to work after his trip away with Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).

Right on cue, Craig then enters the pub and breaks the news to Jenny that the body is that of Leo’s.

As Jenny reels in shock, is the game finally up for Stephen?

A tearful Paul in his and Billy's flat in Corrie
Paul faces another upsetting ordeal (Picture: ITV)

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) gets some devastating news in Coronation Street soon, leading him to make some plans for a funeral.

Prior to this, Paul turns his attention to his and Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) stag do.

When they arrive at the Bistro, Billy is somewhat taken aback by all of the glitter and rainbows, but Paul absolutely loves it.

‘I do feel slightly honoured, I’m thrilled’, Daniel Brocklebank said recently, discussing the prospect of Corrie’s first gay wedding.

‘I mean, obviously, there’s been long-running gay characters in the show, prior to Billy with Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and also Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent). And I’m thrilled that we are going to finally have a wedding.

‘Billy has been on the other side of the altar for so many it seems fitting for him to have the first one, and with him being a religious man it is significant in that way too.

‘Although he hasn’t been the best omen at weddings. Most of the ones he has officiated at haven’t ended well! Let’s hope that doesn’t jinx it.’

As the event gets underway, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) is paid a visit by two police officers at her home.

They want to ask her some questions about a potential fraud investigation involving Shelly Rothington (Natalie Amber), who is Paul’s friend.

At the station, Bernie makes out that she’s simply helping a young woman with MND by collecting a few parcels for her.

The police then deliver a shock revelation for Bernie, one that’ll leave Paul reeling.

Towards the end of the week, an emotional Paul pays a visit to George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley). He sits down and goes over Shelley’s funeral arrangements and explains that he’s written some words about her that he’d like placed with her body.

Shelly had MND longer than Paul, which meant she represented a glimpse into what his future will look like as his motor neurone disease progresses.

Can he hold himself together at the funeral, knowing what’s ahead in his own life?

Tyrone video calls Fiz in Coronation Street
Fiz returned on video call to Tyrone (Picture: ITV)

There was an unexpected appearance from a beloved Coronation Street cast member in Monday (September 11)’s episode – when Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) persuaded Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that he needed to keep his wife Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) briefed about the latest goings-on in Weatherfield.

Last week, Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Tyrone were shocked to find Tyrone’s mum, Cassie (Claire Sweeney), slumped in the street after having overdosed.

Cassie then manipulated Tyrone into taking her side against Evelyn, who warned him that he needed to put his daughters first and keep Cassie away from them.

The result was that Tyrone decided to let Cassie stay at his house, while Evelyn packed her bags and moved to the precinct flat.

In this episode, Evelyn spoke to Fiz on the phone and, following this conversation, she told Tyrone that he should really tell Fiz what had been going on with Cassie because she had a right to know about things that affected her daughter.

Evelyn was not going to take no for an answer from Tyrone. ‘I’ll say it again – this time in Romanian,’ she insisted, alluding to Tyrone’s affair with Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) and how much devastation could be caused by keeping secrets. ‘Fiz has a right to know the facts,’ Roy (David Neilson) agreed.

Fiz is currently living in Norfolk, where she took a high-paid job as supervisor in an Underworld factory. This storyline was to cover for Jennie McAlpine’s absence as she went on maternity leave.

So as Tyrone settled down to make the call as his gran insisted, it was a huge and very pleasant surprise to see Fiz herself on his laptop screen as the couple shared a video call.

We saw just the end of the call, after Tyrone had apparently explained about Cassie and Fiz had given her blessing to his decision to let his mum stay under the same roof as Hope and Ruby (Billie Naylor).

‘I can’t wait to see you,’ Fiz concluded. ‘Ring me any time you need.’

Even though Tyrone had only made the call on Evelyn’s insistence, it was a lovely chance to see Fiz briefly and for the show to keep up the connection between Tyrone and Fiz even though they’re currently apart.

Jennie gave birth to her third child, Doris, in April this year, although because the episodes are recorded months in advance, Fiz didn’t leave the show until May.

Doris is a little sister for Albert and Hilda, Jennie’s other children with her husband Chris Farr. She explained the choice of the new baby’s name recently, saying: ‘Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda. They’re also all very “Corrie.”’

Dylan and Mason in the ginnel on Coronation Street
Dylan and Mason will be caught up in a bullying storyline (Picture: ITV)

Coronation Street has revealed a new, hard-hitting storyline involving some of its teen characters, as Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) comes under the sinister influence of a boy at his school, Mason (Luca Toolan).

Dylan lived for most of his life in London so he’s relatively new to Weatherfield and as such he is soon singled out by Mason. At first Mason seems like just your average bully, making fun of Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor) and incurring the wrath of her sister Hope (Isabella Flanagan). But quickly a seriously nasty side starts to emerge as he enlists Dylan’s help to target Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall).

Luca Toolan told us that, although he knew that his character was ‘a bad guy,’ it fell to co-stars Liam McCheyne and Charlie Wrenshall to reveal how dark things were going to get.

‘I found out about the extent of the storyline on my first day through Liam and Charlie as they were given a lowdown as to what’s happening,’ he said. ‘They told me it was going to get dark.’

Luca described his character as ‘a very angry and disturbed soul,’ and said he was interested in going beneath the surface of the character to find out what was behind his bad behaviour.

‘People are like that for reasons,’ he mused. ‘Hopefully in the future, we might be able to explore a little bit more of why he’s become the way he’s become. But the advice I would give to him is go to therapy and get the help that he needs.’

He said there was one film in particular that influenced his performance. ‘My favourite film is The Joker, so I like looking at characters that are damaged. One thing I really want to do with a character is show the vulnerable side. So there’s a lot of room and a very high ceiling for the exploration of the character.’

Newcomer Luca will play Mason (Picture: ITV)

When Mason recruits Dylan Wilson to help him carry out his hateful campaign against Liam Connor and others, he’s targeting someone who is vulnerable because of being fairly new to Weatherfield.

‘It’s almost like a new start for him and he can have a bit of freedom so I think that would make him very easily influenced,’ Liam McCheyne said. Although Liam has portrayed Dylan on and off since 2011, this will be the first time that the character has made a permanent move to live with his dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) in Weatherfield, having moved from London where he lived with his mum.

Liam McCheyne as Dylan Wilson in Corrie promo picture
Liam McCheyne has returned to the soap after a break (Picture: ITV)

‘I think Dylan is very naive in what he’s going into,’ Liam reflected. ‘I think Sean realises how dangerous Mason’s influence is but Dylan ignores him quite a lot. Mason isn’t a true friend to Dylan, but as I’ve said he’s very easily influenced so I don’t think he realises what he’s getting himself into. He wants to fit in with the cool kids and be like them.’

He described Dylan as being both scared of Mason and wanting to fit in.

‘I think there’s an element of both especially when we start hearing of what Mason has done and we don’t actually know what else he’s capable of doing. Ultimately, we’re not going to go against him,’ he said.

Over the coming months the story is set to escalate and inevitably the boys’ parents become involved, with Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Gary (Mikey North) on one side and Sean on the other. But will they all ultimately be able to come together and support their sons against the troubling influence of Mason?

Coronation Street stars Elle Mulvaney and Mollie Gallagher have swapped the cobbles of Weatherfield for a day out at popular Theme Park Alton Towers.

The Amy Barlow and Nina Lucas stars turned their day out into a double date, as their boyfriends joined them for the launch of the theme park’s family-friendly Oktoberfest event.

Elle Mulvaney was joined by actor beau Liam Scholes, who stars in popular BBC school drama Waterloo Road.

The pair met on the Corrie set in 2021, when Liam made an appearance in the role of Eli Higginson for a number of episodes. Eli was a friend of bully Corey Brent (Maximus Evans).

Meanwhile, Mollie brought along musician boyfriend Dan Myers, of indie rock band Inego, who she has been dating for over three years.

Their day out comes after a dramatic year for their on-screen characters, who have both been involved in a hard-hitting storyline which saw Amy raped by friend Aaron Sandford.

Amy kept her terrifying ordeal to herself for several weeks, before finally opening up about what had happened.

After going to the police, the case was dropped due to a lack of evidence, and Amy struggled in the aftermath.

However, friends like Nina and girlfriend Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), as well as Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) were keen to support Amy in the aftermath of her trauma.

The stars were able to leave their work behind as they enjoyed their day out, sharing smiles as they cheersed drinks.

They weren’t the only Corrie stars to attend the event, with Maria Connor star Samia Longchambon also paying the theme park a visit, alongside her two children.

The actress took to Instagram stories to share photos from the day, apologising to her son for not being tall enough to go on the rollercoasters.

However, it seemed they still had a good time, with Samia admitting that she was able to go on more rides than she’d thought in the heat.

Darren talks to Aadi about his marriage in Coronation Street
Oh dear! (Picture: ITV)

Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) finds himself on borrowed time in Coronation Street soon as Courtney Vance’s (Stephanie Davis) husband discovers their affair.

Darren (Ryan Early) is a businessman and has been working alongside Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) over the past few weeks. While the men have been chatting, mainly during rounds of golf or at the bar in the clubhouse, Aadi and Courtney have been sleeping together.

As feelings develop, the risks increase – not that it stops Aadi and Courtney.

Coming up, after securing the Frescho deal, Darren books a meal to celebrate and suggests Amy (Elle Mulvaney) comes along as Aadi’s date.

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

During the week, when Dev refers to Aadi and Amy as a couple, Aadi’s quick to correct him and makes out that he’s actually seeing someone called Monica.

Later on, after Darren tells Dev that he thinks Courtney’s having an affair, the celebratory lunch gets underway.

After Aadi chats about his new girlfriend and tells everyone that she’s funny, beautiful and intelligent, he sneaks off with Courtney.

As they kiss, disaster strikes as Dev walks in on them!

In the aftermath, Courtney declares that she’s well rid of Darren, which leaves Aadi completely smitten.

Towards the end of the week, Dev promises Darren that he’ll have a word with Adai and make him see sense but if that fails, could Darren get revenge in his own way after this huge betrayal?

‘I think there’s always a chance that Aadi could be in trouble’, Ryan Early said.

‘I don’t think Darren is violent but there are other ways to get revenge on someone. He can certainly make sure that Aadi never earns a penny in business in the north of England, he can make things very, very hard for him.

‘And if Aadi is someone who’s ambitious and wants to make his way in the world then Darren could be a huge problem. Very early on in his career he’s made a huge mistake by crossing someone who’s in the peak of his career…’

Beloved Roy Cropper (David Neilson) continues to focus on helping other people in Coronation Street soon, as he attempts to assist Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) with getting back on her feet.

We know that Roy has a history of taking troubled characters under his wing. Over the years, he’s been there for the likes of Becky (Katherine Kelly), Carla (Alison King) and Shona (Julia Goulding), determined to create a positive impact on their lives.

Most recently, Roy offered Lauren a place to stay after learning that she intended to sleep on the streets.

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

Lauren returned to the cobbles a few months ago after time in Griff’s (Michael Condron) extremism gang. She has tried to stay on the right path, but seeing ex-boyfriend Max (Paddy Bever) spend time with Sabrina (Luana Santos) has seen Lauren struggle to process her emotions.

After another awkward encounter with Max, Lauren told Roy that she didn’t want her job at the café as living in Weatherfield with Max so close was too embarrassing.

Sex scandal revealed in Coronation Street spoiler video as Dev gets the shock of his life https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/10/coronation-street-spoiler-video-sex-scandal-as-dev-gets-shock-of-his-life-19464211/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/10/coronation-street-spoiler-video-sex-scandal-as-dev-gets-shock-of-his-life-19464211/#respond Sun, 10 Sep 2023 16:00:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19464211

It was always going to end in trouble, something that will only add to the ick, but Aadi Alahan’s (Adam Hussain) antics with married Courtney (Stephanie Davis) are about to be discovered.

In a new Coronation Street spoiler video, Dev’s (Jimmi Harkishin) face is a picture of shock, as he walks in to find the pair practically eating each others’ faces.

The affair has been going on for some time, behind the back of her husband Darren, who is also providing some great financial opportunities with Dev.

That will be at the forefront of his mind – if Darren discovers the infidelity, it would be curtains for that idea.

The clinch comes after Aadi can’t help boasting about his new, older girlfriend, right in front of Darren at a business lunch party.

Courtney looks on as he praises her and, when they meet up in the next room, she pants that she loves the risk.

They writhe together, but Dev walks in and is horrified by what he finds.

Game’s up! (Picture: ITV)

Tearing a strip off them, he slams their behaviour but is determined to keep things a secret.

It doesn’t go well though, as it isn’t long after that the penny drops for Darren.

And actor Ryan Early, who plays the oblivious businessman, warned that revenge will be on the cards.

‘Don’t cross him and certainly don’t double cross him or he will find a way of getting revenge!’ he declared.

‘He’s very sharp, he’s not young in the game, he’s seen people come and he’s seen people go, and he’s got to where he is by not letting people push him around, not letting people undercut him or be deceitful. And if they are then he’ll come for them.’

Darren talks to Aadi about his marriage in Coronation Street
Little does Darren know – but he soon will! (Picture: ITV)

Not good news for Aadi, and Ryan detailed what could be in store for the teen.

‘Very early on in his career he’s made a huge mistake by crossing someone who’s in the peak of his career.

Darren’s not a psychopath but he’s somebody who at the moment is very wounded. He feels like he’s lost the love of his life when he had a second shot and he’s not sure he can see a way back from it.

‘So at the moment it’s just very, very painful and being in pain can make someone get carried away.’

Time for some regrets, eh Aadi?

Stu is confronted by a police officer in Corrie
Stu’s stresses increase (Picture: ITV)

Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) finds himself on the wrong side of the law in upcoming Coronation Street episodes – when he hits a police officer in the face.

Stu has been under a lot of stress recently, mainly concerning his granddaughter Eliza (Savannah Kunyo) who has recently reconnected with her father Dom (Darren Morfitt). Dom keeps letting Eliza down and Stu is convinced he doesn’t have Eliza’s interests at heart.

This situation comes to a boiling point in upcoming episodes when Dom once again fails to turn up when he’s arranged to see his daughter. When Eliza is unimpressed by an alternative idea of going with Stu to see her mum in prison, Stu gets angry and says that Dom can’t care about her much as he keeps letting her down.

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

Eliza dashes across the road upset and is knocked down by a car. Fortunately she isn’t badly hurt, but it gives Dom the chance to turn up with a huge teddy for her as he tries to get back into her good books. Later, Eliza announces that she wants to go and live with her dad, leaving Stu feeling incredibly hurt and disappointed.

Sadly, things are set to get worse for Stu in the wake of this. The next day he gets a call from Eliza’s school to let him know she hasn’t turned up. Frantic, Stu goes to Dom’s house and finds Eliza there. She explains that she ran away because she’s now living with Dom.

Stu contacts social services, as he’s the legal guardian of Eliza and wants their support in the situation. But when a social worker arrives accompanied by a police officer and Stu is advised that it might be best if Eliza stays with Dom for the time being, Stu is furious.

As the police officer tries to usher him away he lashes out, accidentally hitting the officer in the face. Dom watches on smugly as Stu is arrested for assault.

Will Stu end up behind bars for what he’s done? And will he and Eliza ever repair their relationship?

Coronation Street spoiler video: Paul Foreman cries for help after terrifying accident https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/10/coronation-street-spoiler-video-paul-cries-for-help-after-accident-19457182/ https://metro.co.uk/2023/09/10/coronation-street-spoiler-video-paul-cries-for-help-after-accident-19457182/#respond Sun, 10 Sep 2023 08:00:00 +0000 https://metro.co.uk/?p=19457182

Since Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in Coronation Street, he’s been on a difficult journey of trying to come to terms with the fact that he has a terminal illness.

He’s also had to face worsening symptoms where almost every day he experiences fresh challenges.

And, in a new Corrie video clip, we see him take a traumatic collapse, leaving him trapped and alone, crying for help.

While the people who love him have done their best to support him, someone who really understands his situation is Shelly (Natalie Amber), a woman he met at a MND support group. Shelly has had MND for longer than Paul and has been able to give him advice and empathy in a way that his well-meaning family can’t.

Another thing Shelly has provided is an income stream for Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove). Shelly has been using an old credit card to buy and sell laptops to fund her carers, and Bernie spied an opportunity. She told Shelly that she had a mate on the market who could sell the laptops, and Bernie would take a cut of the profits.

In upcoming episodes Paul gets a letter offering him an appointment with a palliative care nurse. He tries to make light of it for Billy (Daniel Brocklebank)’s sake and decides to talk to Shelly. When he meets up with her he’s shocked to realise how ill she’s become.

The next day Paul is struggling to walk and Billy suggests now might be the time to try using a wheelchair. Paul refuses.

Later he catches Bernie red-handed sorting out a consignment of electronic goods with Shelly’s address on them and realises what she’s been up to. Bernie is defensive and says she was only trying to raise the money that he’ll soon be needing for special equipment to help him with his disability.

Paul accepts that his mum means well, but he’s worried that she could be heading for jail if she’s caught and decides he needs to talk to Shelly to get her to stop supplying Bernie with the laptops.

He heads out to go to her flat, but in a deserted street his legs fail him. He trips and falls and realises he’s completely unable to get back up on his feet again. All he can do is call for help – but there’s nobody around to hear him.

Will he be found in time?

Tyrone’s got a lot on his mind (Picture: ITV)

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) has been very focused on connecting with and helping Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) in Coronation Street, but one thing he doesn’t think about enough is Fiz Stape’s (Jennie McAlpine) opinion on bringing a recovering drug addict into their home.

Fiz is currently working in Norwich after being offered a new job with very good pay. In reality, the exit happened to coincide with Jennie McAlpine’s maternity leave.

Tyrone is tasked with having a difficult chat with Fiz soon after trouble with Cassie. The newcomer entered Tyrone’s life a few weeks ago and revealed that she’s his biological mother, convinced that she could live a new life free from drugs after months in rehab.

Sadly, that wasn’t the case as in recent episodes of the ITV soap, Cassie was rushed to hospital after overdosing on drugs again.

Coming up, Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) tells Tyrone that he needs to call Fiz and tell her that Hope (Isabella Flanagan) found Cassie after she overdosed.

Evelyn then warns Tyrone and says that if he doesn’t tell Fiz, she will.

But what will her reaction be?

Evelyn gives Tyrone some advice outside the garage in Coronation Street

Given that Jennie McAlpine has now had her baby, Fiz will eventually return to Weatherfield and when she does, how will she get on with her new mother in law?

‘He’s really trying to have an open mind and open heart’, Alan Halsall said.

‘But also he does have Evelyn’s warning and advice or in the back of his mind so is always a bit curious, but he wants it to work.

‘I think that’s the thing, it is not so much what he thinks as what he wants. He really wants it to work more than anything and therefore he’s willing to dismiss things because he kind of needs it or wants it so badly to work.’

There’s more terror in Coronation Street next week, as we share a video preview that shows Eliza badly injured.

Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) has had enough of Dom letting Eliza down, as his new nemesis has neglected his latest video due to an apparently broken down car.

While understandably infuriating, Stu is a little bit harsh as he seems to forget it’s a young child he is being aggressively ranty about.

He unleashes a torrent, criticising Dom and shouting about him being a liar over why he has missed the visit.

Eliza is clearly hurt, and defends Dom, saying that Stu doesn’t know the first thing about him.

Stu hits back that her dad doesn’t care about her, and when her face crumbles, the realisation hits him and he apologises.

It’s too late though, as Eliza gets out of the car, saying she is going home.

Stu goes after her to try and make amends, but a very fast car speeds round the corner, slamming Eliza to the ground with its wing mirror and knocking her out cold.

A panicked Stu rushes to the scene while the very selfish driver flees the scene.

There will be relief in that Eliza doesn’t lose her life and there is no lasting damage, but Stu’s anger at Dom builds again when Dom turns up with a soft toy, in order to win points with his daughter.

It works too.

Trouble will continue later in the week, as Stu receives a phone call from the school telling him that Eliza failed to turn up.

Stu makes his way to Dom’s house where Eliza explains that she ran away by herself and this is now her home.

As Stu starts to feel like he’s losing Eliza, will he ever find common ground with Dom?

Well, put it this way, the police are soon involved…

Coronation Street spoiler pictures show Courtney with Aadi and Paul falls
Video clips are showing scandal and terror (Picture: ITV)

We know that there is plenty of drama in Coronation Street next week, with an affair exposed, a terrifying fall and a car accident – now we have video clips to preview the episodes themselves.

We’d say ‘what a treat!’ but it’s anything but for the Corrie residents affected – particularly Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

At the start of the week, Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) is being brutally harsh to Eliza – slating her dad and telling her he doesn’t love her is not the best way to handle a child’s feeling.

Understandably she storms off, but disaster strikes when she does so into the path of an oncoming car.

Meanwhile, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) has tried to defy his horrible Motor Neurone Disease symptoms, determined to be as independent as he can.

But near the deserted canal, he takes a painful fall and is unable to recover his stance.

Forced to call for help, how long will he be left trapped?

And finally, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) gets the shock of his life when he discovers teen son Aadi (Adam Hussain) getting very passionate with married 40-year-old Courtney (Stephanie Davis).

A very awkward father and son chat is therefore inevitable.

Whet your drama appetite with the videos below.

Monday September 11

Stu snaps and lets out his true feelings about Dom to a gutted Eliza, accusing him of lying and declaring he doesn’t care for her.

Upset Eliza defends her father, telling Stu he doesn’t know what he is talking about, and he apologises for his behaviour, but it’s not enough as she gets out of the car.

Eliza is hit by a car when she angrily storms off. The driver flees while Stu tends to an injured Eliza.

Wednesday September 13

Right next to a lunch event, where Aadi has very brazenly gushed about his new love interest, almost identifying her, he is getting passionate with Courtney.

She breathlessly tells him that the risk is good and they are soon writhing in a clinch.

The smiles are wiped off their faces though, when a staggered Dev walks in and catches them in the act.

Friday September 15

Paul is on the phone to Shelly, telling her that he has a surprise for her. He is taking records to her, but is finding his walking particularly hard.

As he grimaces due to the struggle to make progress along the pavement, he suddenly crashes to the ground, hurting himself and breaking the records.

He tries desperately to get to his feet, but concedes that he is trapped, and cries for help.

However, no-one is around…

Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has reunited with real life cousin and cobbles co-star Ellie Leach, sharing the moment in a new picture.

The Sophie Webster star took to her Instagram stories to show the sweet moment, captioning the post, ‘Little pop in to see Ellie Leach on her shoot’.

Ellie, who played Faye Windass on the ITV soap, smiled alongside cousin Brooke as she did a peace sign and took a selfie in the mirror.

The reunion comes ahead of Ellie’s appearance on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing – her first TV role since leaving Corrie.

Ahead of her exit from the ITV soap, Ellie reflected on joining the show, and revealed the important piece of advice that cousin Brooke, who had joined the show in 2004, had given her.

‘When I first started Brooke, my cousin, she was like, “Just be yourself, everyone will love you.” I think that’s what I’ve done, I’ve just been myself.

‘I think that’s why I’ve been here for so long because I feel like I’ve been myself but I’ve also made this part of me.

‘Corrie will always be a part of me and Faye Windass will always be a part of me.’

While Ellie left the show earlier this year when character Faye left to live in Slough with daughter Miley and her dad Jackson, Brooke left the role of Sophie Webster in 2019.

Brooke thrilled fans earlier this year when she returned to Coronation Street to pay the cast and crew a visit, bringing son Mexx along for the day out.

‘Today I took Mexx back to Corrie’, she wrote on Instagram. ‘Last time I was here he was about to give birth to him!

‘3 years have passed, everything is different and yet everything is still the same.’

Though they are no longer co-stars, being family gives Ellie and Brooke a close bond, and Brooke is sure to be cheering Ellie on as she takes to the Strictly dancefloor.

Coronation Street star Sally Carman has shared pictures from her romantic London get away with husband Joe Duttine.

Sally, who plays Abi Webster in the ITV soap has been married to Tim Metcalfe actor Joe for just over a year, with the couple recently celebrating their first wedding anniversary.

Basking in the sunshine, the pair enjoyed a few days in London, visiting landmarks like Trafalgar Square and a number of restaurants.

‘Had a lovely couple of days in London with this handsome fella,’ Sally wrote, alongside the carousel of photos. ‘Big shout out to the sun for showing up.’

The couple’s fellow Corrie stars were quick to comment, with Cassie Plummer star Claire Sweeney saying, ‘Gorgeous pic’.

Claire and Sally have been working closely together recently, with character Abi giving Cassie a helping hand to get rid of drug dealer Dean.

Former Corrie star Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster, also commented, leaving a heart eyes and love heart emoji, while Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding posted a flame and love heart emoji.

Fans also appreciated the post, with one saying: ‘Glad you guys had a great time!’

‘Looking great both,’ a third added.

The couple’s well deserved break comes amid some huge Coronation Street storylines, which will eventually see Tim potentially rumble Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) dastardly murders.

In pictures obtained by Metro.co.uk, Tim can be seen near the canal, with Stephen just a few feet away.

John Stevenson, a screenwriter best known for his work in Coronation Street, has died at the age of 86.

John, who died on Thursday September 7, worked on more than 400 episodes of the ITV soap, with his final instalment airing in 2006.

The writer was part of the Corrie crew for 30 years, with some of his most known stories including Mike Baldwin’s dementia battle and that truly iconic episode with Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy) and Raquel, who was played by National Television Award winning Sarah Lancashire.

The news was confirmed by Sean Wilson, who is best known for his role as Martin Platt in the show.

Mike was Ken’s arch nemesis (Picture: ITV)

On social media, he penned: ‘Oh it is with great regret that I hear of the passing of John Stevenson- the talismanic writer of many an episode of the halcyon years of Coronation Street.’

‘John headed up a writing team who steered the series into many 20 million viewer storylines and always, but always had one eye in the comedic charms of Northern life.

‘From a little knowing wink to a rip roaring belly laugh, John was a craftsman of tv humour. I swear you could walk down any street in the UK at 7.30 and hear the whole country laughing at John’s special humour.’

Among the stars paying tribute was Daran Little, a writer who has credits in Corrie and EastEnders. He said: ‘Just heard that John Stevenson has died. Totally devastated by this.

‘Tony Warren aside, John was the greatest writer to ever work on Coronation Street. The creator of Mike Baldwin, Alec Gilroy, Jack Duckworth, Fred Elliott, Ashley Peacock and so many others. Taught me so much.

‘John asked me to write his obit when it was his time but I can’t find any of the notes he sent because I’ve moved house! Oh John, my dear friend, dad figure… once voted the Scriptwriters Scriptwriter by his peers. The best of the best. A true comic icon.’

Tributes also came in from other actors and TV stars including actress Sherrie Hewson and former ITV presenter Rob McLoughlin.

Dee-Dee talks to Joel in the solicitor office in Corrie
Can she fix things? (Picture: ITV)

Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) almost lets the chance of a new romance slip through her fingers in upcoming Coronation Street episodes.

This would be a shame, as Dee-Dee’s love life has been quiet since her arrival in Weatherfield, by traditional soap standards. There’s been a flirtation with Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), but that didn’t go anywhere after Dee-Dee discovered that he was dealing drugs through the bistro.

Rather than romance Dee-Dee has focused on her career and there’s been plenty to keep her busy. From helping Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) to finally get justice, to her day job working alongside Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) at the solicitors, Dee-Dee has been involved in a lot of Street storylines.

Most recently she was called upon to defend Lauren (Cait Fitton) when she was arrested for causing criminal damage at the salon. When Dee-Dee arrived at the police station she met duty solicitor Joel (Callum Lill) – and there was an immediate spark between them.

In upcoming episodes Joel invites her out for a drink, explaining that he wants to pick her brains about US law – a subject she is very familiar with as she previously worked in America. It’s all an excuse for Joel who really wants to spend time with Dee-Dee, but she takes him literally and turns up with a pile of textbooks having completely failed to understand that it’s a date.

Adam sets Dee-Dee and Joel up on a date in the bistro in Corrie
Adam steps in to help (Picture: ITV)

To be fair to Joel he’s not easily deterred and he admits that he’s not that interested in US law at all and it was just an excuse to ask her out. He suggests they could have dinner together, now they’ve clarified it will be an actual date.

Sadly Dee-Dee is genuinely busy for the next few nights, but this time it’s Joel’s turn to misunderstand the situation and he thinks she’s giving him the brush-off.

What he doesn’t know is that kind-hearted Dee-Dee had promised Adam she’d spend some time with him, to cheer him up as he’s feeling lonely.

Adam’s own romantic life might be in the bin currently as he and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) are getting a divorce, but he’s not willing to stand by and let Dee-Dee’s chances of happiness pass her by.

He cooks up a plan to get her and Joel together. But will it work?

Courtney and Aadi started seeing each other shortly after Aadi began working as her PA. Initially, Aadi was annoyed at the prospect of ferrying Courtney to and from posh events as he wanted to learn about the world of business from Darren, but is more than happy to spend time with her now.

Coming up, having secured the Frescho deal, Darren books a meal to celebrate and suggests that Aadi brings Amy (Elle Mulvaney) along.

Later in the week, when Dev refers to Aadi and Amy as a couple, Aadi’s quick to correct him and makes out that he’s actually seeing someone called Monica.

When Darren arrives, he confides in Dev and says that he’s having relationship problems with Courtney and is worried that she’s having an affair.

As the lunch gets underway, Dev reveals that Aadi’s got a new girlfriend which prompts the teen to describe his new partner as beautiful, funny and intelligent.

With Dev and Darren distracted, Aadi then follows Courtney out where they share a kiss.

The moment is interrupted, however, as Dev spots them and is gobsmacked to find his son in a passionate clinch with the boss’ wife!

Oh dear!

The risks are high, but will Dev lose everything if Darren finds out what Aadi and Courtney have been up to?

‘I think he absolutely loves her’, Ryan Early said, reflecting on Darren and Courtney’s relationship.

‘I think it’s a modern marriage, they got together through infidelity, they were an affair. He was already married before, but when he met Courtney, I truly feel that he believed he’d found his soulmate. She’s a match for him, she’s fiery, they can brown but they also make each other laugh more than anything.

‘He found someone who wanted to join the good life with him but also had this business brain as well, so the two of them together as far as he’s concerned are this amazing match. She’s not a trophy wife, but she’s someone who loves to enjoy the finer things, looks good and is smart. For him it’s a match made in heaven.’

Tyrone and Cassie at a meeting in Coronation Street
Not quite the same, Ty (Picture: ITV)

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) told his mum and Abi Webster (Sally Carman) about a past addiction during Thursday’s (September 7) episode of Coronation Street – but it wasn’t exactly the same as Cassie (Claire Sweeney) and Abi’s.

Yesterday, Tyrone had to deal with Cassie being rushed to hospital after relapsing. The newcomer is addicted to drugs and has been clean for a few weeks, but overdosed after purchasing some gear from a dealer called Dean.

Cassie was then told to spend the night at the precinct flat rather than stay Tyrone’s home and was touched when Abi arrived to offer some support.

Tonight, Abi continued to help and told Cassie that she needed to eat something, but she was in the middle of intense withdrawal symptoms and wasn’t exactly in the mood to be pleasant.

Focus then turned to an upcoming support group meeting. Abi was going and invited Cassie, with Tyrone agreeing to come along as well.

The meeting involved speaking about addiction and when Ty arrived, he happily helped himself to the tea and cake, but then accidentally made a comment about how he used to be addicted to Battenberg and other sweet treats when he was younger.

Woops!

As the chat got underway, Abi spoke about the temptation to score. She said that drugs is like having an ex boyfriend who keeps texting to ask about meeting up and even though you know you shouldn’t, it’s certainly tempting to see him again.

Back at the flat, a curious Tyrone asked Cassie about what she had to go through when she was younger after alluding to it in the meeting.

Cassie said that when she was 16, she became a prostitute.

Tyrone was devastated to hear this. All he could think about was how if Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) changed the way she raised Cassie and never threw her out, she never would’ve ended up in that situation.

At Tyrone’s, an angry and hurt Evelyn told her grandson that the worst she ever did was tell Cassie to take her elbows off the table, or to eat her vegetables because children in other countries can’t afford food. She maintained that if Cassie said something about her past, it was more than likely going to be a lie.

Tyrone failed to side with his Gran and said it would be best if she stayed at the flat for a while.

‘Obviously Tyrone’s only getting part of the story, and of course Evelyn can be quite guarded and closed off about things and therefore it is hard to piece it together,’ actor Alan Halsall explained.

‘If you think about all those years and years and years of what she was going through with Cassie and she was still trying to help her and in some ways she’s trying to rectify it all through Tyrone and the girls but Tyrone just can’t quite see that yet.

‘He feels betrayed by Evelyn at the moment. In terms of not understanding why she would lie to him if she’s supposed to love him. He can’t quite see that. There was a lot of love involved in those lies and probably a lot of pain for Evelyn too.’
